1/2 Way thru timing belt job...need camshaft/cranshaft seal advice (2k Accord v6)
/edit: N/M, I just went for it with a clamp and cloth on the camshafts and loosened the bolts. Then it's a simple back plate to get to the seals. And the crankshaft was just as easy, unbolt and slide the little sensor out of the way, remove the sprocket, reveals the seal.
I'm ready to start installing my timing belt and water pump, and realized the instructional video I'm using for a guide omits how to replace the camshaft and crankshaft seals.
I've done a timing belt job/seal job for a camry, but not my honda. Do I just take the camshaft pulleys off to access the camshaft seals? Is there anything more to it than this (access-wise)? What tool is recommended to get the camshaft pulleys off? I think I used a wood clamp or something to hold the pulley on the camry, but that seemed 1/2 @ss. Does autozone loan a 'pulley-securing' tool?
And for the crankshaft, there is a sensor of some sort that needs to be removed in order to get the pulley off. Can I just unbolt it? And then is it straight forward, slide the pulley off to access the seal?
Thanks for any advice! I have Honda cam and crankshaft seals and would hate to miss this opportunity to replace them (never been done.)
