[Broken EF Hatch Budget Build]
I got this car in trade for doing a timing belt and water pump on another 1990 Honda civic for a customer of mine. It's been a long time since I have built a Honda so I though I would give this one a second chance and not take it to the scrapper.
It's a 1991 Honda civic dx. Automatic with blown transmission. Car is completely un-molested! However the quarter panel fender and door are dented from someone backing into it at one point. Thankfully I know what I'm doing in that field of work so making the car 100% again should be simple.*
Motor runs great, have it sold to a friend so here is what I started with and have done to the car so far.
Just did this over the course of the day today so bare with me on the progress. I'll update it every step of the way.
I plan on 5 speed conversion, obd1 conversion, d16z6, boost and who knows what else right now. Hope you like it so far!

Thanks, I was going to head to the local yard today and grab most of the body panels and 5 speed stuff I needed, but it's pouring here in WA right now. We will see if it slows down at all.

Re: [Broken EF Hatch Budget Build]
So I have a decision to make. I would usually take the easy route slam in a cable trans with the z6 call it a day, make a damn sandwich.
But now we have the option of hydro conversion kits: http://hasport.com/store/index.php/m...-ef/efdhc.html
I guess my question is who is using them, and what your feelings are about them?
And of course I'm a cheapass, who makes/sells the cheapest kit without me wanting to when im installing it?

**** hydro man.
cable trannies ftw
and honda cable trannies have an advantage over certain other cable trannies because they employ a reliable system which engages/disengages the throwout bearing. a cable tranny is also more reliable imo.

Well hopefully a transmission guru hops on here but if I remember right doesn't the cable trans have a weak aluminum shift fork that has been known to break?

Started tearing down the interior and found about $8 in change and this fine unit. Luckily I had planned on getting new carpet since they cut it for the amp.

For sure it's dirty. Nothing a little old fashioned elbo grease can't fix though. Made a trip to the yard today and snagged my donor body panels. I'll post pictures as soon as three done uploading.

Got all the panels minus a fender today. I also got most of the stuff to do the 5 speed swap. Pedal assy, shift linkage etc..*
Had to give my main biotch some love too. Her name is Lisa.

No, don't have a build thread on that old girl. It's a stock 22r side exit exhaust. Flipped leafs and indexed torsion bars. FC oil cooler. Train horns. And a welded diff. I do have more pictures however.
The wheels are just crown Victoria mesh.

Re: [Broken EF Hatch Budget Build]
Thanks so far it's just been gathering parts. Got a lot of work ahead of me. But I'm really excited to build another Honda. Thanks for checking in everyone. Hopefully will have more updates ASAP!

Re: [Broken EF Hatch Budget Build]
Just went over some plans this morning. Deciding on weather or not to build my own Traction Bar or buy one. I chose to build my own. So there will be a write up on that as well.
