Default Need New Paint Job on my Car

Some of the paint on my car is peeling off. At some point, I'm sure I'll take it in to MAACO or something, and get it all fixed up (I suppose that might cost $500 - $1500, depending).

In the meantime, are there any products I can buy myself, and put on the exposed metal to prevent rust?

Interestingly, there has been no problem with rust yet. Some of the metal has been exposed for as long as 3 years now, but all the metal is still the same grey color as the day the paint started peeling.

But I figure, if there's any quick fix to put my mind at ease, I should do it now before any rust does happen to show up.

I agree, rust is so hot right now.

However, if it's not for you, I've had good luck with Liquid Glass. It's a polish, not a wax, and lasts a very long time:

Wouldn't bother with Maaco there cheap for a reason. 1500 will cover the whole car not including rust repair. In a year or so paint will begin to fade and peal.

My little sister had her car painted at Maaco about 3 years ago. It still looks good and its black. I think It really depends on what shop you go to and if they know what they are doing.

If you decide to go the maaco route the one in Arlington off pioneer pkwy actually does pretty decent work. Friend had his camaro redone about 5 years ago and it still looks great. They did my old del sol and a civic of mine both with good results.

She got lucky I have heard more horror story's than good one's. If you get someone that know's what there doing and actually love's it than they will try and give you the best that they can. But thinking your going to get a good job for 1500 is wishful thinking. You get what you pay for.

+1 for maaco did a good job club, would do again.

Looks great from 10 feet away, slacked a bit on the details, but if you just want to make an car thats not worth a whole lot look respectable, its a great choice.
