engine problem b16a2 - please help :-(
I have recently bought a 1993 del sol vti.
The old owner has just replaced the engine.
When the engine is cold and just started the idle is between 2500 and 3000 rpm for about 5 min til the engine is warm then the idle drops to about 600 rpm. There is no CEL. I have replaced the TPS with no change..
The gas mileage is also very poor. Between 6 and 7 km/l.
The engine sputters/misfires when downshifting around 2750 rpm.
I also think it has very poor acceleration and it struggles to get to 160 km/h.
Please help!!!

First set the timing because it sounds like your timing is off.
Second check/ replace your spark plugs if needed.
Take out the IACV off the back of the intake manifold, unplug the plug on the bottom of it, then remove the IACV its 2 12mm bolts. unplug the two coolant lines on the bottom and plug them with the 2 bolts and set them upright so no coolant spills out. Take out the screen and spray brake parts cleaner and clean out the inside reel good, let it dry for 10 mins and reinstall and let it run for a min and take it out for a drive, should idle real good.

A new problem arose on my way to work this morning and i think it is relevant to the other problems.
As i would accelerate the throttle would cut out periodically and the cel came on.
I am not sure how to check engine light in the del sol. :-(

I just got 2 cel codes from my car.
Code 7 and code 14
I have just changed my tps recently and set it to .45 amp. What else could b the prob? And what is the code 14.
I am going to get the timing checked tomorrow.

So you have TPS code and IACV code...when you changed your TPS...was it with a factory one? As for IACV (CEL14) Did you do what "wunfstgsr" suggested?
