Default Brake bleeder kit

What manufacturer makes a more or less reliable brake
bleeder kit? Have looked at Mityvac, Actron, Phoenix,
Performance Tool, Craftsman, etc? It will be for light
duty, eg, once/twice/yr?

Also, how does one test for ballooning in rubber sections
of the brake lines? Crawl under the car whilst the brakes
are being applied and look/feel for an "aneurysm"?

Recently put on new pads and rotors and had a firm pedal.
That was on a Friday. On MOnday, the pedal was a little
soft. AN inspection of the drums revealed a leaking wheel
cylinder and the other was "tearing up" (as in crying).
Changed both and bled all four corners. Still too soft
for my tastes. Also adjusted the drums. I noticed three
of the four corners bled quite rapidly under gravity bleed.
One of the wheel cylinder corners was doing an imitation
of the Chinese water torture test. Does that suggest air
is present? Tested the power booster but it appears
to be working. The pedal holds at stop lights (no sinking
further) so master cylinder appears ok at first glance.

Thanks.

Did you bleed the wheels in order specified in the service manual? It's best to have a buddy help by pressing and holding the pedal down and only letting up after the bleed bolt is retightened. Push lots of fluid through each wheel. Make sure to keep the reservoir filled.

If any wheel cylinder is leaking fluid, replace it.

from matco, snap on sells the same EXACT one for a little more. i absolutely love mine use it all the time highly recommend it. ittle literally suck the reservoir dry from one bleeder in like 30 seconds, same with clutch hydrolic systems.

i got mine half price threw a student discount though.

if your on a budget i know a lot of mechanics that use this. it pushes fluid back up to get the air out. iv never personaly tryed it but i hear great things about it.

Hi,

Yeah, sort of. Bled the replaced wheel cylinder first (which
is #3 of the 4 points to be bled according to the service
manny). Bled #1, #2 and #4 next. Got very rapid flows
under gravity. Went back to #3 and re-bled. Still very
slow drip rate. Was planning to do it again w/ an assistant
at the brake pedal.

This Civic (most ??) has four circuits for the four wheels
coming out of the proportionation valve.

Replaced both wheel cyls. Replaced one in Feb w/ a
Bendix from Rock Auto on wholesaler closeout. It lasted
10 months. Rebuilt the Honda one. Glad I did. Will
rebuild this Honda one as well.

Thanks for your input.

I've got a MAC one that I picked up probably 13-14 years ago when I was turning wrenches for a living. Works great, still use it on a regular basis.

You could always build your own pressure bleeder, I was thinking about doing something similar with a spare cap:
