1997 Honda Civic EX VTEC Oil Pan ?
Hi guys,
I recently bought a 1997 Honda Civic EX vtec that needs the oil pan replaced. I read the VTEC uses a different style oil pan than the non-VTEC such as the DX or other base models. Assuming that information is correct, I am having a hard time finding a replacement oil pan with a reasonable cost for my car. What I have found is the base model oil pans are around $60-70 bucks whereas the one I need is in the $230 range?
Please tell me I'm mistaken.
Thanks in advance!

only differance between the y7/y8 oil pan is the y8 is aluminum and the y7 is steel. you can use a y7 with no problems.

Sweet, that's great news! I thought I had read the bolt holes were different. But then again, I've read so much I started to get mixed up. lol And I also didn't realize it was a vtec when I was initially looking.
I plan on using this to help me out.
Hopefully it's not too far off.
I'll be back in a week or so after everthing arrives and I start the project. Thanks for replying.

Before I click the order button, I just want to make sure ... get the gasket that matches the y8 (my car) or the y7 (the new oil pan)?
Thanks
Thanks
