2003 Acura TL transmission weird problems! help asap
background on the car: Its a 2003 3.2TL base, has 246k miles, this thing is clean as a whistle and runs super nice (I just bought it tonight in its current condition)... the engine light is on (have yet to scan it as I bought it tonight after the parts stores have closed)... what its doing is this: when you shift it into reverse it takes about 5 seconds and then "gently" slams into reverse. Also, it is having problems shifting and after driving it and then coming to stop and wanting to take off again it acts like its stuck in a higher gear so you have to manually down shift it into 1st, also when you do shift it manually (not using the sport mode with the (+), (-)... just the normal 1st, 2nd, 3rd, D shifting trough the gate) it does fine and shifts through all the gears when manually shifting it just fine. The transmission is not slipping/revving up between shifts when in "D"/drive... its like it just wont shift to the next gear, sometimes it will, sometimes it wont. do these things have a transmission shift computer like the old '90-'93 accords that go bad??
I just cant see it being the transmission itself going bad if i can manually shift this thing without issue. It seems to me like an electrical/solenoid/computer problem?? ive read up on this some, and I didnt remember the "D" light blinking. Just the check engine light on. ive always experianced that if a trans is slipping, its going to slip even shifting it manually.

this trans had an issue with the 3rd clutch pack not being properly cooled under extreme uses , there for metal shaving Debris getting into the valve body and cloging **** up
first remove all solenoids and look on the screen/filter/gasket and clean if you c any debris .if that doesn't do it ,replace all pressure sensors and shift solenoid also linear solenoid and c how it does, each is almost 30 $ the one expensive is the linear solenoid( the one right next to the starter ) around 168 also get new gaskets and screen/filters for all solenoid ,
if that doesn't cure it , they go for around 700$ for just the trans
also u want to get one from 01 to 03 non type s. 99s are 4 speeds u have a 5 speed
and last if you feel like opening and rebuilding the trans , (new clutches and bands , clean all the valves ) this is a good DIY
