Default Brake lights won't work!

Okay, so I just changed the bulbs on my break lights for my 05' honda civic LX and now they won't work. I bought another set of bulbs because i've heard that they can be bad sometimes but they still did not work. I checked my fuses and they were fine. All of my other lights work including my 3rd brake light. Any thoughts as to what it could possibly be? Any help is appreciated.

Also, I had an issue with autozone about the bulbs they gave me. They gave me 7443 for my brake lights, but when I took the bulb out of my vehicle it was 7440. 7443 wouldn't fit into the socket for my brake lights, but it fit perfectly into the socket for my running lights. I admit I tried to put the 7443 into the socet for my brake lights (before I noticed the difference in the bulbs). Could I maybe have done some damage to the socket?

You sure the fuse is good? Did you try using a new one just to make sure?

Have you tested the harness connector(s) to see if they're getting power?

Why exactly did you replace the bulbs? Were the old ones not working?

7443 is listed as the brake light, though.

I have not tried a new fuse but my third brake light on my spoiler works and I thought the same fuse was used for that.

I have not tested the harness connector (honestly, don't know how)

I replaced the bulbs because they were not working. One went out, then a couple days later the other one did.

7443 was listed as the brake light at autozone as well, but when I pulled the brake light bulb out it was 7440, and the 7443 bulb was in my running lights.

Sorry, I overlooked that.

I just went and checked by brake light bulbs and they are indeed 7443. Not sure why yours would be any different.

Test between the white/black wire and a ground. You should have power when the brake pedal is pressed.
