Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
the civic had a pretty productive weekend.
-changed the transmission fluid ( fill bolt completely seized. took the jaws of the son of jourel and a new set of vice grips to brake it free
-changed the completely shot window regulator
-y fabricated fog lights. here's a little write up and parts list:
a list of the junk that i used:
-glass projector lenses from a 3k
-two little h3 bulbs
-3" diameter pvc pipe
-a couple screws
-a buncha wire
-crystal clear adhesive from home depot
-the rods with the holes in them to mount
-some junk that is used for roofing. can't remember what he called it
-a toggle switch, a decent set of metal cutting snips
tools:
soldering iron, screw drivers, drill, hack saw to cut pvc, sand paper, dremmel, probably a few other things
random necessities:
a storage unit, a record player, red bull, a couple friends, mango flavored wine.. i think that about does it.
from my personal 30 day supply:
used crystal clear adhesive to attach pvc to lenses, and drilled holes for bulbs through roofing pieces:
these snips didn't do it..
more sealant to help with moisture, madigan's custom brackets, and silver bezel pieces:

test fit:
before fogs:
after final install, working tip top:
i'm very happy with how they turned out. pretty much the first thing i've ever fabricated.

Not sure how the output would be seeing as there is no reflective housing. Also if you could create a cutoff shield and add the reflective housing it could work. I know we're limited on space when it comes to the fog lights so I can see why you made this.

i'm not sure what abs is, or was..
y, i kind of like the silly look, quotes the interior as well. i almost painted the housings black, but that's boring. i really did consider it though.
the out put isn't bad. it's just slightly shittier than the headlights. as in i can hardly see more with the headlights than i can with these. if it were one or the other.
so, cut off shields are what goes on the inside to reflect the light? i'm not even sure if those lenses had reflective things on the inside when they were in the mitsubishi.
i've never fabricated anything before, and i've always wanted a nice big set of fogs. i contemplated using these lenses on the mitsubishi for fog lights, but don't really do things like this to her. well not without a lot of planning. the civic is kind of my reliable test penguin. i do love the civic, but.. i dunno, she's not anibel.
and the reason for them not being so pretty is: function over form

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
On Sunday, I finally installed my mpguino. I managed to remove the dash bezel without breaking any clips, which I count as a win. The ECU was easier to get to than I anticipated, and I got the whole thing done while my son took a nap.
I've been running it for 2 days, and I'm already finding some ways to improve fuel economy... mostly involving downshifting more than I usually do. This keeps it in lean burn mode.

By and large, the shift indicator will get you good economy, but there's some fine tuning available. The 'guino is kind of like a "downshift" indicator.

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
I typically upshift with the green arrow under normal acceleration on flat ground... but I found that (with the mpguino data), sometimes it's telling me to upshift on a hill that would actually drop me out of lean burn on a hill, due to the load. If I'm on an incline and I apply too much pedal in 5th, I can see my mpgs drop from ~40 to ~25 instantly (and I can feel the transition). If I drop into 4th, I pop back up into lean mode.

ABS is the black equivalent of PVC. It is black all the way through, so it won't change color if rocks chip it.
