Icon6 91 da b20z vtec build

Hey guys just decided to tell you guys that my project is coming along i should be done in about two weeks for my bday. Im building a b20 vtec for my da. currently the car has had a blown head for 4 months and it still kicks ***. but i decided it needs a new heart since its been working hard for soo long it deserves a gift. Ill be buying the b20z high comp engine. selling everything except the block. for the head i have a b17 head ported and polished with type r cams and has been tapped for vtec already. bottom end like i said will be just the b20z no mods. Ecu im doing for now the b16 obd0 ecu until i have more money for a s200 or s300. Transmission is staying the same for now untill i have a cable b16 one. intake manifold im using blox intake mani. fuel system will be upgraded after i get everything set up. I want the b20z engine because its high comp, its 84 mm instead of the 81 mm pistons of the b18a meaning more torque and more power from the b20. the b17 head has work done to it already so im not worried about raising the comp up. according to the paperwork i will be around the 190 to 200 hp range after i get it tuned. Of course im still missing the headers and exhaust other than that the car will stay as it is. I will keep you updated with pics and the dyno sheet after i get it tuned. wish me luck

You should definitely get some ARP rod bolts for added security, unless you plan on never revving over 7k. Also you do NOT want to run that motor at all until you get it tuned, even a basemap will be better than nothing.

I actually had to get the b20b low comp engine since the importer faked on me. since a family problem came up as well could not get all the parts to make it vtec. yet. however im currently running a b20b shaved ported nd polished head with larger throtle body nd larger injectors as well. have stock ls ecu still with type r cams i had laying around. currently undefeated. raced a swapped accord f23, k20 civic, tc with mods, a 4 door si with some mods as well. the civic was k20. clutch cannot take more than one race though. it starts slipping after one race. i do have everything for vtec but might have to wait more since i need the gsr ps pump bracket still and tbelt and seals and gaskets. soo far soo good ill post pics up of the swap tomorrow.

i do have the arp studs already. as for the tune not sure. i was just going to use the b16 ecu from the xsi teggy. but not sure ive read into the s200 and like what it offers. so i might just wait to convert it to obd1 and buy a s200 that way i can tune nd also have launch control option. i do however have the mugen chip but not rly liking it.

Obd1 is your best friend for tuning.

What i did on my fully built B20v, i tuned mine on a p28 single cam ECU with Neptune. Might be a good alternative if low on funds if u got a Tuner near you some where. If You want some ideas, i got my build thread if interested..

Okay so I'm new to this whole tuner world. I can handle my jeep, but I'm not up in the lingo and get confused easy. (I'm old). When you say "tuned" are you talking about an ecu programmer like the superchips I have for my jeep? If not, what exactly does that mean? Please excuse my ignorance.
