Whiper blade skates off the window?
Well folks the title says it all.
Ive looked at my whiper arm assembly and it all seems fine. The issue is, at higher speeds (usually past 60kmph) my driverside whiper blade skates off the window (while in use) hitting the winshield frame, and making a very loud damaging sound lol.. Does anyone know what you could possibly break internally that would cause this? Plz and thanks!

I get the same answer everywhere I go.. Can someone direct me to a fix? Or atleast direct me to what area on the whiper motor to look.. I have thoroughly gone thru this thing.

Re: Whiper blade skates off the window?
I had the exact same problem... well, have the same problem. I have an extra wiper assembly that I have never gotten around to putting in. But what I ended up doing was adjusting the wiper arms. They don't go all the way up like they should, but at least they're not skidding off of the windshield; I didn't want the wipers to break on me in the pouring rain haha. I wish I had a real solution though.

Okay, I'll go to the junkyard and get a replacement setup.. Honestly, my fear is this thing finally snapping on the highway at 110kmph HAH.

When your wiper arms are parked are they in the correct position?
POs often futz with wiper arms usually screwing them up.
Check for worn bushings/bearings in the assembly allowing excessive movement. The assembly is powered by the motor, which connects to the P side arm, and then linkage connects to the D side arm. If there is any slop it will be magnified at the D side wiper arm.
Pull the arms up off the windshield, like when replacing blades, and check for any slop in the linkage. If there is equal amounts of rotation from both arms, then most likely the slop is from the bell crank(#7) at the motor. Check that. If that seems fine, it could be that the gearbox(#2) on the motor is worn out allowing excessive play/movement. This would require replacement of the motor as an assembly AFAIK.

Re: Whiper blade skates off the window?
I went to replace the wiper assembly today (finally ). Took a little less than an hour to remove and install. Since the weather is beautiful today here in Connecticut, I won't be able to really test and judge whether or not replacing the assembly was worth it. But I sprayed some water with a garden hose on the windshield and they still act retarded like the original one did, and again I tried to adjust the wipers and they don't seem to make a difference. I'll let you know how they work in action!
