more experience in using them less and going faster.. thats pretty much all.. has nothing to do with experience with pads and rotors.. it was just a thought

Yeah, I think those that are interested in this thread probably understand that to a point.
I review my data logger after every race to see how much time I shave off and how that correlates to how much time I'm spending on the brakes.

Has anyone used the Hawk DTC-30? It is available for ITRs, 10.2" Civics, and a few others.
It looks to have the high heat capabilities of a Hawk Blue, and low temp characteristics of an HP+ - this might work on the lower powered cars, and for better modulation compared to the DTC-60/70, and higher friction Cobalts.
Just curious......

The DTC-30
Temp range: 100-1200°F; 38-649°C
Listed for mostly dirt track type applications but hey, worth a shot. For a race only app I'd be concerned about the 1200F limit. The DTC-60's are rated up to 1600F but I found they can't handle high heat like other pads that are rated for the same temp.
Markertoo; Buy a set, go test, take pics and get back to us!

I will try to remember to take some photos of my HT-10s, they have had about 10 hrs of track time and still have a ton of meat, the rotors however are shredded and cracked.

My neighbor along with other racers are using Friction Performance stuff. The same brake pads can easily go a season without being changed! That blew my mind considering we were braking from 184MPH to 40MPH at Daytona. Not sure what pad or model number they are but damn that makes racing a whole lot cheaper!

Cobalt XR3 for me at 2300lbs. My friend runs the XR2s but he's quite a bit heavier than me. I've used many other brands I really really like the Cobalts. They are somewhat made to order, so when I order, I order 3 to 5 sets at a time.

on another forum recently someone made this comment:
Cobalts used to $150 or less. But with each release the price kept on going up... :-( What's the commended source for PFC that keeps Honda apps in stock and maybe with some racer discount?
Carbotechs wear quicker and cost plenty, but they are where it's at for braking finesse. If a Carbotech is a like a ball peen hammer, a hawk DTC is like a baby sledge and a hawk blue is like throwing a large rock at it.

Here's where I source my mine from:
http://www.rotorsandpads.com/search....=0373.80.17.04
As you can see for my CRX I get either the 83's or the 80's for cheaper than I can get Hawks, Cobalts, Raybestos or Carbotechs.

So how does the PFC 01 compare to a carbotech xp12? Or are one of the newer PFC compounds better or is there a better option. I am after a pad that will last longer than the carbotechs, Granted I was pushing the temps on them but even with ducting i would kill a set of pads in 4 20 min sessions. I really liked the way they felt but I cant have that additional bill. I have gone to a stoptech setup instead of the wilwood kit to help battle temps. The car sees 140-160mph to 50-70 ish mph braking zones depending on track configuration.

I've never run the PFC 01 but I want to, however they are not made in the D373 backing plate design (91 CRX si caliper).
Since I can modify S2000/RSX pads to fit in the D373 caliper I think I will see if PFC makes the 01 compound for that car and give it a shot.
edit: I just looked at Porterfield's website. The Compound 97 from PFC for the S2000/RSX(CRX) is $241!! I guess testing will have to wait on that one

Thanks for the info rice. Now you know the pain that I am experiencing on price as the stoptech pads are big and so there is a pretty big tag on them for all the race pads, the carbotechs where even expensive for my wilwoods.

Re: Race only brake pads; questions, complaints, recommendations.
June update:
Well I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I haven't been able to review other pads yet because (the good news) the ST42's and Centric rotors are still going strong!
These are the "120" series "premium" rotors from Centric. At RockAuto they are under <$30/rotor!
Time/Events on rotors:
1: Double entry weekend at Portland Int. Racways: ITA and 1 Hour Sprint + Qual and practice on both days. Total time = 130+minutes
2: Double entry weekend at Pacific Raceways: ITA and ITX. 2 practice, 3 qual, 2 race. Total Time = 110 minutes
3: Double Race weekend at Oregon Raceways Park: ITA on 2 days. 1 Practice, 3 qual, 2 race. Total Time: 115 minutes
Total=355 minutes or 5.91 hours on rotors!
So far only light "check" marks on outside blade.
The ST42 Pads have all this time PLUS a 2 hour in Test and Tune at The Ridge so these pads have roughly 7.91 hours on them and I would say have used less than 50% of their material.
ST42 pad with over 7 hours
The slight taper suggests that I need to flip them a bit more often.
