Blox cam gears and timing belt
Hi.
I have bought the adjustable cam gears from Blox like these
I have two problems.
One:
Its hard to figure out if the timing is correct according to the belt/lower pulley.
Should i align the marks with the head or should i align them with the marking on the plastic?
I just started the car two days ago and it started and ran great (basemap with the car on stands)
But it did not idle!
Revving sounded fine and dandy! (no load)
I guess this may be a problem with idle control etc. but wouldnt setting the timing off f*ck up the idling anyways?
Two:
After starting the engine a small whining/whissing noise started coming from what seemed like the timing gears against some plastic / timing belt against the cover not sure. Sound got worse and worse so i stopped the engine.
I started the engine the night before i had to go to work!
I just need some input to grind through my head while i am offshore on an oil rig for 14 days now.
Engine spec:
b16a2 block 0.5 overbore
polished and balanced rotating assy. (crank/pulley/flywheel/pressure plate)
wiseco 0.5 overbore pistons 9.0:1
Eagle rods
completely stock b16a2 head
stock cams
Blox adjustable cam gears
gates racing timing belt.
gt2871 .63 ar
Also picture of the engine
Sorry for my rusty english hope you understand and can give me some input on this for me to think about.
I cant take any pictures for you since i am 30 miles of the coast of norway on an oil rig!

Re: Blox cam gears and timing belt
I also read somewhere that the b16 has different teeth number on the stock cam gears so the marks are off or something but i cant remember where :/
