Raising the steering wheel in my 90 CX

Raising the steering wheel in my 90 CX
I've just acquired a 1990 CX and the one thing I've noticed is that I find the steering wheel really close to my thighs when driving and makes getting in an out a little bit awkward. Is there any way to raise the steering wheel? I don't see any way of doing it on the column when I looked but I didn't look in great detail, just looked around hoping for a lever.

I do not believe there was a CX in 1990, at least not in the US.
If your car does have an adjustable column it would be behind the steering wheel on the left side of the column. It's a long lever that runs in line with the column and pulls down towards the floor. If not your best choice to alleviate the problem is source an adjustable one from a salvage yard.

It's a Canadian car but definitely a 1990 CX. It doesn't sound like it does have this lever so i'll have to keep an eye out for one when I hit the scrappers. Thanks

I had the same issue with my crx si even with an adjustable column. It drives me nuts personally, it makes the car hard to drive. To fix it I got a 330mm steering wheel and a 3ich hub extender to bring the wheel closer to my body away from my legs.

Ok, i'll maybe give the 1 inch spacer a try in the hope it rises it up enough to be comfortable as i'm driving a manual and so don't want the wheel too close that i'm then stretching for the clutch pedal! This seems like it might be easier than installing a tilt column too, thanks!
