Should i get a transmission drain&fill or flush? Help!
Hey everyone, this is my first post. I've been reading/hearing some conflicting research and opinions saying to just drain&fill transmission fluid and never flush it because it will ruin the transmission and vice versa. So i came here to get your guys opinions. I have a 96 civic dx coupe with manuel transmission, and the car is at 84,000 miles. Should i jus get a drain&fill or a flush? Thank you guys in advance for your advice. I appreciate it.

Thanks guys, i really appreciate the advice. I'm gonna get it done today and now i know what to do, thanks. So how often should i drain&fill the transmission fluid? Is there a rule of thumb like do it every 25,000 miles or every year?

Ya know, basic maintenance like this is listed in the owner's manual, as well as the service manual.
Normal conditions: Replace transmission fluid every 90k miles.
Severe conditions: Replace transmission fluid every 30k miles/24 months.
Use the severe conditions recommendation. 30k/24m.

No need to do a "flush".
Loosen the bolt at the bottom with a 3/8th ratchet, let the fluid drain. Then remove the 17mm bolt which is located higher up and refill there. Nothing can be harmed by replacing fluid, I dont know where that "theory" comes from.
I just replaced the fluid on my car with 223,xxx miles and it was a huge improvement. It rarely grinds second gear now, compared to before it would grind it every time.
ps: ONLY USE HONDA MTF. Heres a write up on how to do it, its super easy.
