ECU HELP .. Can I use a y8 ECU on a stock y7
Hi Honda Tech , newbee ..
I currently made a AT to MT swap on my Ek Sedan . had a y8 intake manifold on my d16y7 stock engine .. I'm still looking for a good deal for a y8 vtec head cylinder to make a minime swap . but for now im using my y7.
It seems i can get the 5spd ECU for a y8 first rather than the head .
Can i use the y8 ECU on my y7 so i can just install the head when it comes ????

Mini me.....
Pfft..
If the car came with a Y8, get a Y8 and drop it in..
The mini me is not a good move. Do some in depth research.

@OP Answer these questions
1) What Injectors are you using, Y8 or Y7 injectors
2) What kind of Y8 Intake Manifold is it, a 2-wire IACV (Manual) or 3-wire IACV (Automatic)
Those answers can determine which ECU you should actually be running, but just finish the full swap so you don't encounter any further problems.
Personally, I'd just do the swap because of the 2-wire IACV making it easier to tune a boosted motor. OBD1 conversions work on 2-wire IACV wiring IIRC, and all would be needed would be a y8 manual intake manifold, convert the IACV from 3 to 2-wire and the plug, then adjust the pin-out at the ECU harness, grab an OBD2A/B to OBD1 conversion harness and a chipped OBD1 ECU and you're ready to tune (assuming everything else is set in stone)

Thanks Guys for the Help ,
I'm running a y7 head with a y8 intake manifold (2 iacv wire 5spd MT )with y7 injectors .
so I can't use the Y8 ECU . well I will just get the y8 head and ecu together.
thanks guys

If you find a good deal on a whole swap Id go for that and sell the parts you dont need
for me personally I cant take the head off a perfectly good motor without doing the rings and bearings since its already half apart
