first off im not a noob, but this is my first wagon.. i bought it yesterday to use its low mileage motor and other parts..

its an lx model 97 wagon with a f22b2 engine 5 speed trans..
the engine harness has obd1 injector clips and all grey plugs.. but the ecu plugs are obd2...

so my question basically is this:
On these wagons did they use a obd1 engine harness under the hood for some reaason?? im gonna use this engine in my coupe for the time being so i can drive my project... i sold off all my stuff over a year ago but then my shop burned down and i had no business insurance so im back to square one with my prohect.. im finally gonna paint it and put this motor in it so i can just use the car - its a necessity at this point...

i just need to know about the harness cuz if it wont plug in to my shock tower plugs on my 95 coupe then i need a new harness from a dx/lx accord.. thanks in advance...

also can i use the wagon struts on my coupe?? they are new, i know i cant use the springs but i wanna know bout the struts..

and im gonna part this car out starting tomorrow so hit me up with any thing u need.. car is mint inside and out..

What color is your interior? I could use inner door handles and the driver side master switch. I need Beige interior.

Do you have an engine in your 2dr? Why not put the long block and trans in your 2dr and swap all the bolt on stuff to your newer low mileage engine? Why bother with the harness

i had a k24 swap all lined up and in hand so i pulled my turbo sohc engine tranny harness etc and put it in another accord i had and SOLD it.. few months later my shop burned and i sold the k24 swap with everything...

UPDATE ON HARNESS-i craeled under the wagon and there is no o2 sensor underneath, just the one in the oem header, and im dead sure that the engine harness is obd1 - its grey plug not black.... im just reallly confused why the hell honda would do that.. i mean the injector clips, dizzy plugs are obd specific in all chassis' and in the wagon they should be black injector plugs but they are 100% obd1...

in like 2 days i should be pulling the motor/trans out of the wagon so i can try to plug it into my coupe shock tower plugs.. plus ima go to the u pull it yard and do some comparing..

any more thoughts??

well after some research looks like 94-97 accord lx/dx ENGINE harnesses are the same, and 94-97 ex accord ENGINE harnesses are also the same..

so looks like i can use that harness and plug it into my shock tower plugs and GO!!!!!

if anyone has anything different to comment please feel free to comment.. and if anyone knows about the strut/spring differences between wagon and sedan/coupes please let me know....

anyone have a clean accord wagon title and matching dash with vin#?? lol

car has no title, bought it from a tow place in town. if i could get a title id turbo, slam and drive the wagon for sure... but for now ima rape the car and use its parts to get my coupe back on the road..

What is the law there about converting it for racing? Does it still need title? That's what I would do. What is the future plan? Dd or race?

well my coupe is a dd/drag/autocross car.. its got a autopower race rollbar with bolt in cross bars so my daughter can use the back, agx/neuspeed race, progress f+r bars, 5 lug swap.. also has a full color change.. check my build thread, after 1 year 1/2 i finally got started back on it and now with this wagon parts car i can finally get the coupe back on the road.

the wagon i can do whatever i want with for racing but its a wagon!! lol... i told wifey ill make the wagon into a drag car for fun she just rolled her eyes!!! lol

anyone here with a 96-97 accord that can look at the engine harness?? im going to the u pull it to see for myself

edit: the 98+ accord with f23 has the "obd2" style harness with black injector plugs and 2 o2 sensors... the 94-97 accord uses the same harness... ive read of people like me putting a 96-97 motor intheir 94-95 accords and using the 96-97 harness.. i just wanna see if someone can confirm cuz i dont wanna drop the motor in my coupe with that harness and it wont fire up or run right... id rather know before so i can get the right harness

What are you looking for on the harness? I have 96 ex sedan.

see if the plugs are grey, see if the injector plugs are grey and have the wire clip that goes around the plug.. also on the pass side shock tower see if there are three plugs-two big, one small with two thick wires... also if you dont mind check if you have one o2 sensor or two.. one is in the exhaust manifold and you can see it from the top but the other is under the car around the catalytic converter.. i cant get to the u pull it today but ima try n go tomorrow. lmk and thanks 75

HB, my injector plugs are grey. I was looking for the clip you were asking about but still confused on which clip. My car has a plastic cover above the intake about the height of the valve cover. The wire goes under the intake but lost it when I looked on the passenger side.
On the passenger side shock tower, I have 4 grey clips. They all look the same size. Its probably because my car has ABS.
I do have 2 O2 sensors.

75, well the harness looks the same as the wagon one and like ive been saying my obd1 harness i used to have.... weird that the wagon is a 97 and only has one o2 sensor.. weird.. well im gonna try the u pull it tomorrow and see..

Yes it's weird that a 97 has one O2. Unless the prior owner had gone back to obd1. I compared the wire harnesses between a 97 and 94 and part numbers are similar. Maybe take a trip to the jy and find an obd2 harness?

No problem HB. Hopefully it'll work out. Maybe just on the wagons it maybe 1 O2. Not sure though because I don't have a wagon.

I grabbed the photo from another post. The OP has a 96 lx wagon. Can't see the color of injector wires but the wires on passenger side shock tower is visible.

well its late wed nite and i am going tomorrow morning 100% to the jy to get a few parts and check on the harness situation.. i will be reporting back.. also i got a guy buying the approximately 250 used tires in my other bay in my garage so i can get the wagon in there for raping/disassembly.. roger over n out lol

well my jy search was inconclusive and i went to two u pull it yards near me... i still think that the engine harness itself from 94-97 is the same... it becomes obd1 or obd2 specific from the shock tower inward.. DO NOT QUOTE me on that yet, when i pull the motor and install it in my coupe i will know for sure and get back to you guys

OK!!!! update@!@!!!!!!

its official, 97 accord wagon motor in my 95 accord coupe..

the harness plugs right in at both strut towers and car started right up.. of course i had to use a 94-95 f22b2 pob ecu. but thats it... the second o2 sensor has its own separate harness that runs straight to the ecu itself..

so the 96-97 accord harnesses should plug right into the 94-95 chassis NO PROBLEM...

be sure to check out my build thread as i will be updating with more than 100 photos as per my progress.. car runs strong as hell... and to my surprise the wagon manual trans has a longer final drive than coupes n sedans which will make acceleration quicker. so in my gutted caged coupe it rips and makes me smile cuz it makes my investment in the complete $700 wagon worthwhile. and i scrapped the gutted wagon for $200!!!!
