Default HELPPP!!!!!! F22 with H22 Pistons

I have an F22B2 Bored out to 87mm with H22a4 P13A Pistons the only thing is they stick out im using an F22A6 Head and a .30 Felpro headgasket im worried about the valves hitting the piston i saw pirate Mcfred Post about the G23 with h22a4 pistons but the only thing is F23 and F22 have different rod lengths F22 = 5.572 F23 = 5.551

Rods in your setup are even longer. You need to modify the combustion chamber or pistons.
I personally modified pistons as they were hitting the head.

Why did you use the f22b2 block and bore it out to 87mm? Just curious...

Do you mean 0.030 headgasket? If so, you'll be sticking out 0.020 inches leaving you a clearance of .010 inches. That's a little close for comfort.

I would recommend you clay the engine.

You will be fine if you don't have a cam gear and mess with it. I have an f22a1 block with f20b pistons and they stick out .020" using the f22a1 rods and crank but the head im using is an f20b dohc vtec head so that's an extra 3.8cc and also the dome sticks out pretty far they are 6cc dome like type s pistons on h22a type s. You should be good just put the head on turn it with the timing belt on to see if anything hits which i know it wont but double check and if it turns your good to go. Then turn it on but after you make sure. ARE you using the f22 crank and rods?

Yeah im using and F22b2 block, crank, rods with H22A4 Pistons with a Dome cc of -2.00cc and im using stock cam and stock cam gear because stock is always TDC compared to an ajustable one where you just never know. I ordered a 5 layer head gasket two days ago just incase though

You do know those will work too mine are +6cc dome jdm F20b pistons. No v2v or p2v touching at all even when vtec is engaged and the power/torque is ridiculous.

Im going to try to bring this thread back from the dead because i need some help. I have an F22B1 block with F22B1 crank and rods and I'm swapping a JDM H22a head onto it. I want to bore the block to 87mm and use the nippon racing h22 type s pistons. Will this be ok with the iron liners being that thin and will i have an ok piston to valve clearance? Thanks

Your walls should be find

Better calculate your clearances.

Awesome the sleeves were my main worry. But i put my build into one of those h and f series calculators and with type s pistons my piston to deck height would be -0.020" so with an OEM 3 layer head gasket i should be good right?

id be more concerned with using pistons not designed to be used with steel cylinder walls.

Have you found any proof of this? In my research I didn't find anything conclusive on the subject. I'm planning to try it with a f23 block and h22 pistons

No, no proof. just speculation. I read a long time ago a post from Golden Eagle who simply stated that they would not recommend it and I completely agree.

Unless this guy just wants to do it to do it and isnt concerned with the financial and time losses, then i wouldnt do it. There are easier and more reliable solutions like running K series pistons or simply running a forged piston.

I am some what concerned about financial and time losses but i have read a few threads about people boring f22s to 87mm for h22 pistons and it working, for how long i don't know. I do plan on getting my whole bottom end including the block cryo treated before machining so from what i hear that increases the strength quite a bit. And one of the main reasons i want to do this is to match the bore size of the head to the block.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-accord-1990-2002-2/f22b1-bore-project-help-2498685/

In this thread there is no proof that it works but it does state that the iron liners are 3.5mm thick and with the 87mm bore there would be 2.5mm left. I don't know if this is entirely true but i feel like its worth a shot considering with the h22 type s pistons i would be getting a 12.11:1 CR
