Default Where to go through firewall for battery relocation?

Where to go through firewall for battery relocation?
'97 Civic Coupe (HX) with a/c

I'm keeping a regular battery in the oem location (passenger side firewall) so probably can't go through behind the battery. Big deep cycle battery will go in trunk.

Pretty much open space available on driver's side, near brake booster. Drill there??

Someone said make hole on passenger side, below oem battery location but - -
I checked near the hose a/c drip drain hose, way below battery area. Looks like I'd have to drill way down near the big cross member, it doesn't look like a good place to work.

What have you guys done?

So you're using two batteries? Why? One OEM size battery is enough, if you need more power for an amplifier or something, one large one is plenty. Two is just extra weight and more connections to corrode and create issues. If you're worried about a dead battery, carry a jump pack in the trunk.

A lot of guys use the AC drain hole. I'd try to avoid running the battery cable along the ECU wiring because of the risk of interference or shorts or such. If you have to, just drill a hole, it's no big deal, just make sure you check and make sure you won't hit the wire harness under the firewall mat.

There's a hole in the firewall about halfway down, directly behind the intake manifold. I have no clue what that hole was used for, since it was empty on my car, as well as my step sister's EJ1. Use that.

Just make sure you use soft cable from a stereo store like Crutchfield. The stiff **** you'd get from Lowes will be WAY more trouble than it's worth.

There are plenty of holes you can use. Use one of the existing holes if you can though. If you have to, you can use one of the harness holes. Just use something to re-seal it up when you are finished.
