I have just pulled the head and replaced 2 burnt valves. I had the head machined a cleand up and now have the 1259 code. The lock up solnoid continuity is in spec and i have cleaned the valve assembly. The engine starts and idles perfectly but has a hesitation going up through rpm range before smoothing out and roaring to life, until the trouble code is set and it goes to safe mode. Any Ideas???

You can still drive the car. But you might have to replace the whole vtec
Solenoid.

The plunger in the solenoid valve did have some fine scratches on the bottom portion and seemed to have more drag in the middle of its travel. Do you know if there is a difference in the solenoid assembly in the ulev and the standard vtec solenoid? Im about to go to a friends salvage yard and try to find one to try
Thanks |

I have this code on my 97 Civic too. I have a leaking VTEC solenoid. Tried replacing the o-ring but that did not fix it.
I also have some other codes (p1336, p1337, and p0325) and am wondering if any are related. I was told that I may have to replace the Crankshaft sensor, which would cost over $400. Anyone know of anything that should be done first? |
