Default My DIY Wire tuck/Mill spec/Engine paint/TunerviewRD1 in my B16 Turbo ED6

2 Years ago i got my hands on an un-finished project of a Honda Civic ED6 Turbo. I managed to get the project done, in wait for a second phase in my project, which includes alot of modifications to come,

Here is my ED6

The EF9 front end JDM conversion

and here is my engine bay

interior

It wasn't tuned and I had tons of problems with this turbo setup.
My daily driver had a bunch of an electrical troubles so I decided to start to wire tuck my bay and change my turbo setup.
It was very hard being so far and It's hard to believe that my ED6 was kind of rare car in Egypt, I had to make many international orders which it means more waiting time and more cost.

I don't know where to start so I took my engine off, A/C, P/S any thing I don't need, also took my fenders off and dash board in the end.

Aaaaah. Lots of work waiting for me.

Sorry for cell pictures but this is what i have for now, I will get another camera when I have time for shopping

I decided to start with the right side coz it's the hardest part,

i took my fuse box off with all wires to inside and without drilling i started to push harness through the firewall one by one into the fenders room,
measuring out the wires to head lamps and getting my c clamps was the easy part

then we started work. choosing the grounds was like i will have many spots so i made it only 1 ground for this side, i taped it, and then loomed it up , and left the A/C stuff alone, used my c clamps to fastened up.

here is how it looks like now

this side almost finished...

i will post more pics soon after i place my fuse box and ECU in passenger side even they have no room to fit together!!!

I have received some parts today

Avid racing mounts looking so good and it came with hardware

OEM EF B series rear bracket

Clutch switch for full throttle shift still want to know how to mount it and connect it to my ECU

ITR oil pump

ID's

back to my engine bay again almost done with windshield water hoses tucked too

here is the other side so far

I really wanted to do mil spec, i was thinking if i can use other connector that works correctly, no one here had ever tried this before, no experts to share experiences with, one of my friends said that BMW uses a connector!! i took a look but it was really small just only 14 pin, found another VW connector and how it looks like

I didn't like how it looks like.... but it has 28 pins, i will have to look at my engine harness and count how many pins i will need, i found out that it will require not less than 42 pins plus im willing to add my wideband sensor, so its around 48 pins at least!! so this ugly connector WILL NOT WORK

I will skip this for now, i made some work in my engine cover, cutting the cam gear side and shaved it a bit

ITR oil pump installed

more pics

taking all A/C relays and its wires, head lights, fan and horns, resoldered and mounted in its new location, under front bumper

on driver fender all wires and water hoses that comes from windsheild cleaner bottle are tucked together

getting wiper motor wires to driver side to relocate the motor it self or using LHD EG wiper motor

for brake booster area i deleted wires for the brake fluid warning, i don't need it anyway, tucked the brake booster hoses under the brake lines, turning the elbow of the intake manifold carefully upside down.

I was beginning to lose my temper because most of connectors i found are pretty small, but finally, I found the right one with 50 pins,

so i had to make a steel plate for it,

I will need to paint this later, I wonder what color should it be...black or silver?
test

I don't want it to get even harder but i had to install my engine again to measure the length of wires from firewall to the engine ,
that probably will make me go through the installation process of the new mounts and bracket to check engine alignment!

There isn't enough room on the firewall to mount this plate i had propagate the edges of the hole

getting new bolts and drill four holes a slightly larger than 5mm,

now taking the engine off.... again, fasten the plate bolts and nuts together through predrilled holes

back again to engine harness

Well, I have a funny story about that, after 3 hours of walking searching in computer shops and some and electrical shops that sells appliances, I went into a small store and I found it!!! when i was leaving i turned back and asked an old man; who uses this anyway? he replied the army use it for tanks!!!
I think that's why the name is military "mil spec" connectors....

I have received this 2 high temp cans

Aluma blast paint

Eastwood tech help was really good, a million thanks for your continued support.
320-grit paper, primer is not required, Then clean it with some acetone and some clean rags.

i will start with air grinding and some wire brushes, clean it with carb cleaner and then the 320-grit paper

By chance of any numbers markings or anything on the plug besides Mil Spec on it. I would LOVE to find one of these for my coupe

Loving the do it your self stuff in here!

One question though, I was looking into doing that connector as well but I got shy of the idea. What do you plan on doing with the larger gauge wires in the harness? The coil power, starter signal, and all the alternator wires?

Engine harness almost done... except the injector extensions coz i've lost one injector clip

I can't find this clip, does anyone know how can i get a replacement from any other car?

It will take a couple of weeks to arrive.
Here is some links...

http://www.t1racedevelopment.com/ind...ector-kit.html

http://www.xenocron.com/uscar-inject...kit-p-572.html

before solder is applied you should twist the 2 wires together from both sides and test the signal for each plug for a good electrical connection, soldering was a bit hard,
soldering around 100 wire in a small spot, it took one day to get it done by a specialist, a special thanks to Mr. Hosny Type R
when this job done you should insulate soldered connections using a protective coating to prevent shorting.

adding more wires to the mil spec connector; water temp, oil light, RPM signal and VSS signal to get rid from an old speedo cable then forward it directly to ECU to display the odometer on Tunerview.

few more wires left to be add; 2 for PWM electronic boost controller and 5 for LC-1 wideband,
