Doing something wrong to get '97 LX ABS codes?
Hi,
I'm certain I must be doing something wrong on my 97 Civic LX. ABS light has been on since I purchased it a few weeks back.
I've searched many forums, and it seems that I should be able to locate the SRS service connector in my passenger side kick panel, connect the 2-pin terminal, and then turn on the ignition and record the flashes.
However, I found the green connector (had a little rubber cover on it), connected it, and no flashing, only my SRS light comes on after a while. I was not depressing the brake pedal.
Anything I'm doing wrong here? The steps are similar to this post here, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Thanks,

I actually tried to reset (assuming the whol hoid brake pedal for 4 seconds, etc is how you do it) and the light never blinked / went off / or anything.

If you read the diagrams at the link you posted, the ABS computer is reset by removing the 15A hood ABS B2 fuse for 3 seconds or more (I'd remove it for 3 minutes or more). Also check whether that fuse is blown.

Thanks - the only issue is the link I posted was for a '95, which appears to be different from the '97's. The link below now is where I noted that is should be a matter of jumping the scs service connector, and then some magic footwork to reset it. However, this didn't work.
Also, I did try pulling both the 20 amp and 7 amp fuse that are part of the ABS in my 97, and that didn't work either.
I'd really just like to diagnose this issue to determine if I actually want to fix it, so any help in figuring out how to properly get the diagnosing to work would be great.

Thanks for the help Ron. I went through the tests up to the WALP, all seemed okay, but then my check engine light came on.
Interesting. Sounds like I need to spend some more time diagnosing here.
Thanks,
Ian

When the service connector is jumped, the CEL should remain on steady. That's normal if no codes are stored in the ECU.
