Anyone order from Explicit Speed Performance?

I ordered my mount kit and traction bar system from John about 5 weeks ago (almost $900) and have yet to hear a reply from him via email. When I call all I hear is he is with his daughter who is sick (for 2 weeks straight). Does this sound like a legitimate excuse? I thought when owning/running a business regardless of the situation emails and phone calls need to be returned promptly.

Im not the type of person to bash a company but customer service to me is what makes a company thrive, without it business will go else where.

Any insight?

Just received word the other day that my order is now 2 weeks behind due to the Holidays? Seriously, 9 weeks to produce a set of mounts and traction bar? WTF!?

BTW: I had to call him and my order was supposed to be delivered tomorrow! Shitty customer service.

Happens all the time with car parts. I had a traction bar from them a few years ago on my ek. I don't think they are big company so sometimes things happen.

I understand that THINGS happen but.... No update emails or phone calls arent the way for a company to handle things.

sounds like typical ESP. You'll get your parts eventually, but it usually takes a while. They're a 2-man shop and everything is made to order. I have always gotten same/next day email responses from them if I email them first

I ordered some Mercedes Benze bronze polyurethane sample paint from them to paint my GSR blades but haven't received it yet.

Still havent heard from DHL, either.

I'm local to these guys. I've met them irl and all. Great guys. It's a father/son company. John is the son. Very small business though. As I understand it, everything is made to order upon the order.

So yeah, it might take a little bit to weld everything up (along with other parts) and have it all powdercoated, packaged up, and sent out.

I've never heard a bad thing regarding their products or the parts not showing up or anything.

If there's an illness in the family I'd take that into consideration for such a small business.

really depends on the illness, if he was the only caregiver and the age of his daughter. if she has cancer than that would be acceptable and sad and i hope it never happens. if she had a flu and his wife could watch her then he should be working to complete orders he has already received money for. i have called a few times and they rarely answer. once he told me they were racing all weekdend. i know its a small company but i dont see why they cant have a few products ready to ship. there stuff is good quality and prices are decent.

I waited 10 weeks for strut bars... Turn time might be long but the product won't disappoint. Whatever you get from them will be worth the wait.

I have ordered from them, usually pretty quick with email responses and it may have taken a few weeks to get the parts, but they are well worth it

OP, might want to delete this thread before ESP decides that you are giving them a bad rep online, then you'll never get your parts (you'll get your money back, but no parts) and believe me you want their parts because they are quality

They make ALL ITEMS CUSTOM UPON ORDER. Even the site says:

All of our products are hand made and are considered custom and made upon order! They do take time so please understand that with your wait time upon purchase. Normal wait time is about 2 weeks. When extremely busy could be anywhere from 2-7 weeks. Plan ahead and purchase ahead. Upon purchase there are no refunds since they are custom pieces that are made upon purchase. Thanks - ESP

Dan and John are decent people. This wouldn't be about a common cold.

There's zero reason to have one example of each part they make for each model they supply for just in case someone wants to buy one. Especially since custom colors and applications might be needed or wanted.

Custom parts take time. It's just the way it is. They're not scamming you.

He paid for his parts. I have zero reason to believe ESP won't deliver even if this guy badmouths the wait time.

Not saying they will do that for sure because I think they are good guys as well, but other companies wouldn't hesitate to pull that trigger and tell the customer to **** right off for bad mouthing them, especially on a car website as big as H/T

It happens. You have business, sometimes some people end up dissatisfied. This guy just needs to give them more time.

I feel like he expected them to get the order and immediately start welding it up.

From what I can see OP is just upset at the lack of communication, which I would be too. I don't have a problem waiting for custom made parts but if it's taking more than a month to get them to me I'd appreciate being kept in the loop through the process.

I dont see the lack of communication. ESP said they were 2 weeks behind because of the holidays, to me that make perfect sense and they have kept him in the loop before that
