Hey I have a jdm b16a obd1 that I am tearing apart for its accessories and swapping them over to a obd1 jdm B18c. I noticed the b16 has water pump dowel pins and the b18 does not. I looked at the exploded diagrams and service manuals for both engines and see nothing mentioned for either. The pins are still stuck in the b16a. Any suggestions would be great. Check out my build, im big on the little things thats why im stressin about it, thanks in advance.

ive tried to use waterpumps without them and find they often leak. use some needlenose pliers or whatever you can to get them out of the b16 block

Dowel pins are out, no big deal, now i notice the new water pump has no reliefs for the dowel pins to go in, what a pain in the ***.

New pump OEM or aftermarket?

Some new OEM pumps don't have the dowels. No biggie. Just use a little rtv to help secure it and there should be no leaks.

both pumps are oem the new one (on the left obviously) has no relief for dowels and i wont be using rtv on an o ring seal.

just found the answer i think

19200-p72-003 -dowel pins reliefs (94-95 GSR)

19200-p72-013 no dowel pins reliefs (96-up VTEC b18's)

Here is part number 19200-p72-003, I was correct. It is a yamada pump like the 19200-p72-013 but does not have the honda markings on it like the ...013 does.

Yup, Thats true my ls is going through a rebuild and its 19T Original water pump has the dowels, i bought the P72 22T.... no dowels so its a must to do sum custom mod to the P72 pump and put in the 2X dowels or Longevity will fall to the FLOOR! Remember the timing belts gunna be yanking on this *****!

This is not needed at all, to say longevity will suffer is completely false. Honda stopped using these a long time ago and you don't need them! Let this thread die

aftermarket gates water pump will come with the dowel pins

I just install my water pump on my b18c1 that didn't come with no dowel pins. I just use some sealant and tighten to specs and I have no leaks.

Did you go through an ls(b18a/b) v build? or are speaking of any other block? I would understand b18c's not having them in the same form...

I went through a lot of builds, they dont make them anymore and are not needed. Do I have anything against them..absolutely not. Just saying honda stopped making them quite a while back and you will be fine without them, regardless of application.
