Default 1995 2.2L VTEC exhaust suggestions

Okay, so I have a 1995 4-cylinder accord EX with at 5-speed. My factory exhaust is completely rusted out now and I need suggestions on where and what kind of exhaust to buy.

Ideally I'd like find a cheap cat-back system that looks good, but is QUITE. Basically the performance look without the annoying killer bee sound (I've already got the annoying sound, since my muffler has a nice rust hole).

I may just get a factory stock replacement, but i thought if i could get a nice aftermarket piece for about the same price i'd go that route.

What do y'all think?

Thanks.

Best bet would be an Apexi WS2.

Is that exhaust loud? Any experience with the "super silencer" apexi sells?

If you want to keep it quite and also have a bit of a sporty sound when you give it some gas. I would suggest that you buy Bosal cat back OEM replacement parts for the EX. (B pipe w/resonator & axle back muffler) Or you could step up to a Borla cat back.

You can look up some videos but from what I've heard it sounds very close to stock in the low RPMs and then if you really push the car it sounds like a race exhaust, but still quieter. I have never personally heard the "super silencer" deals.

LOL, That's a joke right!

$700+ for an axle back muffler is a serious wast of money. I don't care what JDM name is on it or how rare it is. There are US made universal SS mufflers that you could get for much less. That would sound and perform the exact same.

I'm really wanting quite as possible with a sporty look. I'm honestly not even concerned about performance. I may just buy a new center/intermediate pipe and see what a local shop has as far as quite and sporty muffler goes...

I'm looking to spend $300 or less total BTW. I paid $1500 for this car, not gonna throw an $800 muffler on the back .

I could have a whole custom header back stainless steel exhaust system for the price of that Mugen muffler, and still have money to spare.

If your looking for a cost effective setup, and you really don't care about performance, you could always pick up the generic ebay catback piping setup, cut off the fart cannon, and replace it with an OVAL muffler of your choice, Summit racing makes some decent cheap mufflers, or you could step up to something like a dynomax, or magnaflow, whatever your preference may be.

Great advice! That's the route in leaning toward. Thanks for reading all of my post, by the way.

$300 or less will be hard to get for a complete cat back exhaust. It's 300 bills just for a mild steel mid pipe w/resonator (B pipe) from most muffler shops. Then another 150-300 for the axle back mufflers. As much as I hate to say it. The cheap overseas ebay crap is probably going to be your only choice in that price range. If you can, try and save up some extra money and buy North American.

i'm not laughing.

Mugen exhausts are some of the highest quality, best sounding exhausts i've heard in 15+ years of doing this. I've had a Mugen Gen1 and Twin loop along with half a dozen other brands. Apexi, Tanabe, Greddy, Sheepdog, Comptech, and HKS. If you think thats too much money, check out how much S2000 and TSX exhausts are and rethink your amount that is "TOO" much.
