Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
After some talk with a fellow member I decided to make a topic to clear up some questions that I have myself, and also share what I believe to be true about the car. In my searches I have found that many mislabel a lot of parts as SIR-S stuff, so lets try and get as factual information as we can.
Information provided from http://spiritofgrip.wordpress.com/
Production dates: 1992-1993 (production numbers are unknown however, estimated between 3000-5000).
The SiR-S spec:
-Unique ‘DOHC VTEC’ decals on the doors
-Champagne coloured EG6 alloys
-Keyless Entry (It has a small retangular sensor on the driver’s door handle)
-Armrest as standard
-Black/Charcoal Zenki interior
-Momo Steering wheel and leather gearknob
-Choice of three colours: Granada Black Pearl, Milano Red or Lausanne Green.
Now for what I believe to be true:
Just to add a few notes, the car could either come with a short, leather covered armrest with black plastic, or the typical long eg6 armrest covered in the black tweed that matches the interior. I also believe that TCS and LSD were optional. I know for a fact my car does have limited slip but no TCS. The parking pole may have been optional as well. I received my center console with a parking pole switch, so this could have been just added by the prior owner. I know also that the car DID NOT come with the black and checkered interior. Now, for my collection of pictures. Again feel free to add anything you have. I know there is a lot of this info out in the jdm brochures, but I don't have any of them

My buddy used to own one of these, I went to Quebec with him to pick it up. His was a green, had the keyless entry and black tweed interior and short armrest. It didn't have ABS or TCS, nor did it have an LSD. Something you forgot to mention is the bronze tint glass, also they didn't have a sunroof while the regular SiR did. The parking pole was an accessory I believe, my friend's didn't have it (he did get lucky and get one with OEM foglights though.

Yes I forgot about the sunroof. Also, the bronze glass was standard with all JDM EG6's wasn't it?

Re: Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
Thank you for starting this thread Heikdiesel. A lot of misinformation out there regarding these cars.
I own a 1993 SiR-S and it does indeed have the checkered cloth with Black/Charcoal Zenki interior.
Mine has LSD but no TCS or parking pole and contains a long armrest. Also, the thin side moldings are painted in a dark grey metallic color. Not sure if its SiR-S specific or not but have been told it is. I've replaced mine with regular thin black moldings as the grey ones were damaged in the container during shipment.
I am looking for a key fob for the keyless entry if anyone is aware of one out there as my car didn't come with it when I bought it but does have the drivers side door handle with sensor.

What else about your car makes you think its an sir-s. Is it.one of the 3 paint codes? Sunroof? I've searched numerous japanese auctions and have never seen a stock sir-s with the checkered seats. Any possibility it was swapped?

Of course, there is always a chance someone at some point in the cars life swapped out the interior. However, I have reason to believe that this is not the case.

The sir-s was only made in 92-93 so.by that logic the 93's would be the.only ones able to have that interior. Nsxmatt along with several others have had 93's with the black interior. I wish I had a way to clarify this

Re: Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
So I just went through 15 eg6's on the japanese auction. Only one sirII had black tweed interior. But the door panels and plastic on the seats were grey. That was a 93. All 94 and 95 sirII had the checkered seats and one 93 had purple tweed

Re: Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
Hi guys, I run the Spirit of Grip blog so hopefully I can shed some light too as I also own an SiR-S. The red black checkered cloth was NOT available on the SiR-S. The S is a Zenki only model, the red/black cloth is the Kouki facelift material. The interior will have been swapped to have this. Also the sunroof is an option, and was never standard on any level of trim. It wasn't available on the basic SiR, only the SiR-2 (and S I guess). The bronze glass has nothing to do with the S either its just standard 'JDM' colouring and most cars for that era had it.

Re: Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
So after looking a little more here is the conclusion that I have about the interior on the cars. If the car is a 92-93 regardless of model, it will either have grey/grey seats, black/black seats, black/grey seats or purple/grey seats. The "checkered interior" looks like it wasn't introduced into production until late '93. But the only way I'm still seeing the SIR-S built is with black tweed/ black plastic seats. Door pannels the same way. And a black dash

Re: Official: Civic EG6 SIR-S Information Discussion
I had the brochure translated today by a friend from Japan. It indicates that the SiR-S model was based off the SiR II platform and accesorized up to make it and the sportiest EG ever produced. Only 3000 units were produced for the Japanese market. He also mentioned the SiR-S was produced from Oct. 1992 to Aug. 1993.
If you have any specific questions about the details in the brochure let me know and I will have that particular area translated.
