Default Issue w/ built Y8

The issue I'm having is that when the engine is up to temp and I've driven for a little while, when the rpms drop to idle speed, the oil light flickers on and off really fast. I give it a little gas and the light goes out.

There's plenty of oil in it but it only does it when the engine is warm and has been driven for several miles.

Put a gauge on it and check the pressure.

The pressure's obviously low otherwise the light wouldn't be flickering...

But why only when the oil temp is up and it's been driven... clogged pickup? oil pump? I wish there was a way to block all the channels for the oil to run from the head to the oil pan b/c I'd fill the head up with oil, until it came out the oil cap and them remove then unblock the channels to flush any kind of trash outta there... lol

Grumblemarc..

your like Visa..

everywhere you want to be!

You can try a seafoam treatment in the oil and see if that cleans up any crap.. But afterwards, i would replace the oil then with a 2nd oil change.

You say it's built. Is the oil pump new? You might want to get a gauge anyway.

What kind of oil filter are you running? In the past I've seen cars with low oil pressure at idle. After the filter was changed, all was fine. Sometimes the filters are faulty/weak.

The oil pump was new Honda when the engine was built about 10,000 miles ago.

I'm gonna try swapping the oil filter out, maybe got some trash in there or something...

well, you want 10psi per 1000 rpms...

you need to put a gauge on and check to see if your getting good pressure thru the range. If not, then you know whats up..

I wouldnt trust the idiot light anyways.

Check your connection to see if your oil pressure switch is good or loose.

you need a gauge. and **** the stock sensor i leave those thing's unplugged.
if its low enough to trigger the light and the sensor is working properly than i would not run the car until you fix the problem.
