Cleaning plastic headlight lens
As you all know, headlight lens seem to be getting bigger and bigger. And with the current styling, more plastic is exposed to the elements. Sun, wind, dirt, bugs, etc.
I understand the normal care. All of us wash it. Some of us use Rain X, some of us wax it the lens.
My question is, does waxing and cleaning it actually make it worst? Even the best and safest wax have some chemicals and cleaning agents that although label safe for plastic, does it actually harm it? Or cause it to yellow? Plastic scratches easier than glass or paint surface.
My lens is nice and clear, and I like to continue to keep it that way.
My current thoughts are, to do what I have done, which is nothing. All I used is soap and water. Then again, my cars are currently still rather new.
Comments and advice?

Re: Cleaning plastic headlight lens
Some companies make protectant for headlight lenses, good for blocking UV.
As for wax, just get a pure wax, like Megiuars Mirror Glaze series.

make sure you get a nice microfiber cloth or something very soft so it doesnt scratch it. even a terry cloth will make little scratches in a headlight.

Question on this. Yes, true. But wax does have chemicals to clean, shine, remove oxidation and etc. Even the best and most gental clear coat safe wax have some "cleaning" agents in them.
My fear is that it will "scratch" or remove some top layer of plastic. And cause yellowing faster.
Your thoughts.....?

Your best bet is to go to a local shop that does "clear bra" and have them cover the headlights. We just did it on my wife's TSX and the lights look amazing and you can't tell at all there is protectant film on them.
