Default Radius Rod question

Recently noticed on my 98 v6 that the passenger front wheel is 1.5" behind center of the well. I measured axle to axle to be sure. Had it on a rack to discover my radius rods are not the same when we replaced their bushings.

Are both radius rods the same besides being different for left and right? they looked nothing like each other.

Its causing steering and tire wear problems.

They are supposed to look different- they are made to fit around the engine on one side and trans. on the other. They should be the same length overall though.

It's important to find out exactly what is out of shape or out of spec. Either some suspension component is damaged or bent or the frame/sub-frame has some level of crash damage.

I have seen a front LCA bent backwards (in a wreck) at the outer section between the shock fork/radius rod mount area and the lower ball joint. I've also seen feeble attempts to cover up frame damage.

you can try checking some of this yourself with a tape measure and some simple math (trig is simple right..?) or have a qualified frame and collision shop check it out. after repairs are made and/or damaged parts replaced an alignment is a must.

old thread I know, but heres the story. The previous owner had to have curbed it so hard it shifted the passenger side of the ENGINE CRADLE and yanked the radius rod and CUPPED the bushing spot. Had to torch it and bang it back flat. Also had cradle re centered. Car drove great after. Now its dead due to bad trans and waiting to be cleaned and sold.
