Default Does HIGH IDLE cause hard 1st gear SHIFT?

On a manual transmission 1998 Honda Civic EX with D16Y8, if the base Idle is set to too high of an RPM, would that make it hard to actually physically shift the gear level into 1st?

I know that you can't shift into 1st when the car is actually MOVING, but if the car is at a dead stop, why would it be hard to shift into 1st just because the RPM is a few hundred higher than normal?

Or does this not affect the ability to shift into 1st at all? Every other gear is OK as far as shifting and once the car is warmed up to hot it's fine shifting to 1st.

THANKS

It MIGHT but it mostly shouldn't... I guess an interim solution is to get your car to run and idle properly but the long term solution would be to adjust the shift linkage to make sure it's setup properly and or repair the transmission.

dont think that a high idle would cause that, usually 1st gear in a manual trans is a non syncro gear meaning that the speed of the drivetrain will or will not let it shif into that gear. i dont know to much about honda internals so i cant help you there but i would definately lean more towards linkage or air in the lines. check there first. could even be a wore out thro-out bering that has some slack not letting the clutch dis-engage all the way
