93 Accord Blower motor/resistor
my g/f just bought a 93 accord and the blower didnt work for the heat or a/c. i found the thread on here on how to pull out the blower (that was a fun job). anyway, after i pulled it out, i hooked it back up just to see if any wires might have been loose. it started blowing but very weak. it does change speed with the **** however, once you turn it off and try to turn it back on, you have to bump the fan with your finger to get it going again.
my question is whether or not you think it is the resistor or the fan motor. it could be a weak motor but the resistor got hot real quick too. the resistor is special order from every place around here and it will take atleast 5 days. the motor is in stock but $80.
think it is worth giving a new motor a shot?
Thanks- Brian

its not an OEM fan. its a continental or something like that. autozone and schucks both had them in stock.
i think i might try the fan out. i guess i can always take it back if it doesnt fix the problem.
i live in tacoma, wa.

For $8.95 you can try one from PicknPull, I would be willing to bet the PicknPull in Tacoma has more then one 4th gen. Accord on the lot.
LOL, just checked, only 5, but Arlington has 17 of them, sounds like a good excuse for a day trip to Arlington.
I bet you could name 10 things off the top of your head that you could use for your car, a list of those, a toolbox of the tools needed to pull those parts and a Sat. or Sun. and your way ahead of the game.
Now before you spend $80 on the fan or spend time pulling one from a wrecked Accord, make sure the motor is the problem.
Easiest way to test it is to connect it directly to power and ground, [directly to the batt. works] if it still needs a "bump" to get going or it is slow, you need a motor.
There are more then a few other things that could be wrong that would result in the blower motor not working properly, it could be as simple as a poor ground to the blower switch, a defective fuse, a poor connection at some point.
If the blower motor blows strong with direct power and ground, you will have to find which of the above is the actual problem. 94

Re: 93 Accord Blower motor/resistor
update....
i hooked the motor directly to the battery and it would spin freely so i figured it would be the resistor. but, when i hooked it back to the car with a resistor i got from teh junk yard, it still needed a bump to get it moving. it had to be the motor. well, i went to the junk yard to get a motor but the guy said i had to remove it from the case otherwise i had to pay for everything. so i just got the whole assembly since someone had already removed the dash anyway and i didnt want to waste more time if the motor didnt fix it. it cost like 30 bucks i think.
plugged it in and everything worked.
thanks for the info guys.
