Default squeaky clutch

Hello, i am new to the forum. I have an 01 honda civic dx with a 5 speed manual trans. I am having a problem that i am having trouble diagnosing. When i release or press my clutch pedal, i hear a loud squeaking noise. Initially i thought it was the pedal linkage so i lubed it and this did not fix it. Upon looking further into it, i learned it is not coming from inside the cabin but rather the slave cylinder area. Could a slave cylinder make this noise? Should i replace it? Or is it more likely the fork that actuates the throw out bearing? Any assistance would be much appriciated
Thanks,
Josh

It's more than likely the joint where the slave cylinder meets the release fork.

You'll need to pry the rubber boot back (away from the housing, towards the slave cylinder) and lube the joint.

I used white lithium grease on mine. Haven't had the noise return in some time now.

If it's squeaking in the same area shown in the photo, try applying a more generous amount lube.

If it's squeaking near the clutch fluid reservoir, it's probably the master cylinder. There was a TSB for it.

From the FAQ's...
