NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
when i come to a stop sign and apply the brakes i feel through the brakes that the abs is kicking in. i also hear some kind of motor in the car activating. i am not sure what it is, and i am trying to fix this problem as it is really annoying. please help. thanks.

Not sure about the ABS kicking in. Your ABS pump will run to maintain pressure. It could come on if ABS activates or you could be developing pump pressure failure that causes it to run more often to maintain pressure. It can do that for a while before it fails to maintain pressure and you get the light and a code.

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
crap while i was driving to work today the ABS light finally came on after a few weeks of driving with the pulse sensation in the brakes. but the good news is after the abs light turned on, the pulse sensation went away when coming to a complete stop. i hope this is a indicator of what is going on with my car. if anyone knows please chime in. thanks.

i also did some research online and it might be a dirty abs sensor. i will take a look and try to clean that off today to see if it will fix it. if not, i have no idea what to do next.

well i cleaned the front abs sensors and the abs light is still on so i tried to pull the code but didn't understand how to read it. i looked at this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/ecu-abs-codes-here-978933/ .

What car, year? Did you get the flashes of the ABS light? The first flash(s) are the long or slow, followed by short. As I recall, my 95 can store the last 5 codes or faults. If you have had a light only once, then you get one sequence. I had 2 different failures stored and got 2 codes and it took me a while to figure that. You can clear the codes and wait for the next ABS light and start the codes over.

Sorry, I copied them from my other post and they got shortened. Try these.

They look the same, but I just tried them and they work, the others did not.

thanks d4f. too late to try it now, im gonna just bring it to work tomorrow and have them use the obd2 diagnostic tool. that should pull the code right? or does odb2 diagnostic tools only pull CEL's?

thanks i hope it is just as simple as a sensor or something and i hope i can figure out how to read the codes the next time i try. prolly just over thinking it

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
ok i finally got my friend to use a machine and pull the codes. there was a total of 5 codes, codes are as follows:
12-01 - right front wheel speed sensor failure
16-01 - right rear wheel speed sensor failure
21-01 - right front pulsar failure
32-01 - right front outlet solenoid valve failure
81-01 - abs control unit failure
my question is, is it possible to have that many things wrong with the abs? is there a possibility that because the abs control unit fails, it causes other things to fail too? i dont want to spend a crap load of money trying to fix these problems one by one when i can fix one thing and be done with it all. either that, or i am going to just unplug the abs and be done with it.

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
As I recall, mine stored 5 failures, could 5 of the same, or what ever it was. I do not remember pulsar, or did not have it on 95, but solenoid valve and control unit is basically the abs unit. You can clear the codes and then read it after failure again to see what is the current problem. Obviously the sensors are easy to fix. At the beginning the symptoms of excessive running suggested that the unit or valve was not holding pressure. You are probably going to need a replacement if you want abs.

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
Clear the codes, fix the sensor/pulsar problem and get new codes, as it will fail. That said, you probably have an ABS unit failure. Mine does not hold pressure well and the pump runs too frequently and will fail. I occasionally get a code for high pressure failure. I had an accumulator failure after an O ring failure. Replaced the O-ring and then the accumulator. Next, the code changed as the pump is failing. I use the car mostly in the summer and pull the fuse for abs to leave it off. I put the fuse in for slippery, and for the track with R tires to avoid flat spot if I should lock. the option is rebuilt abs or pull used. How long will a used one last? Used, sitting around unused will get seal/Oring failures.

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
do you know where the abs control unit is located? damn i need to find out what the pulsar is so i can pull it from a car that is parting out locally. will all 94-01 abs sensors and other abs stuff work with 99 integra?

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
Now that you've got the problem at least somewhat localized, I recommend that you do a quick visual inspection of the electric wires running to the VSS, and the VSS itself.
Sometimes they can get contaminated with metal filings, which stick to the magnetic sensor and cause a fault. Also, there are places where the wire is exposed and might get damaged by road debris or w/e.
If the visual inspection doesn't turn anything up, I'm not sure what you should do. It may be possible to troubleshoot the operation of the VSS (and continuity in the line) fairly easily. If it's time to start replacing things, proceed with care, as the VSS is not cheap to replace. Neither is the ABS control unit, of course, and I'm worried that's where your problem lies.
I had an ABS issue on an old Subaru I used to own and it was a serious PITA to deal with.

Re: NO ABS light on but something is wrong with the ABS?
Chiltons says ABS control unit is its ECU is under the R quarter panel for Integra. It checks signals from the sensors to then control solenoid valves for the on off function.

The pulsar and sensor are pared at each wheel. Somewhat sender receiver. The pulsar is also a "tone ring." All of that may be cleanable.
"Outlet solenoid valve failure" may be internal to the modulator. I do not see it as a listed part and I think it is part of the modulator.
