alternator help! battery light

alternator help! battery light
okay so my alternator went outt butt it wasnt that bad the battery light hadnt came up yet. so i go buy a new alternator along with a belt also go recharge my new battery install everything the right way ive done this before butt then i turn the car on and the battery light stays on i checked all the fuses everything good any suggestions?

The "battery light" is ONLY for the alternator. If the light is on then most likely it is a defective alternator. Other potential problems: wiring could be messed up, ELD may have problems (doubt it), fusible link may have blown... Check to be sure you battery registers ~12.5 volts with the cables off of it, just to be sure you cover your bases.

ok whats the ELD and the fusible link?
the car is at the shop so tommorow im going to tackle that problem i think first im going to take the alternator off and go bench test then ill go from there

A fusible link is just an inline fuse that they use from the factory. Prevents you from ruining your fuse box in a short/overload condition.
