The Honda CR-Z Mugen RR Concept represents Mugen’s racing spirit and is intended to give a look at the brand’s future design language. The aggressive CR-Z RR features a whole new front end, fully equipped with a new bumper, wider front fenders, new side skirts, aggressive rear bumper, rear spoiler and 18-inch wheels. Gone is the mundane styling that many expect from a hybrid and the CR-Z RR really shows off what Mugen is all about. We’re also loving the shade Mugen paired up with the RR concept. On the inside, the orange theme continues, accented with various carbon fiber components.
From the official press release it sounds like Mugen will move ahead with this kit. Paired with performance upgrades it’s already developed, this could make quite an impressive hybrid tuner package.

Re: Honda CR-Z Mugen RR
How come I never see a CR-Z on the road? Could it be that its ugly, overpriced, and slow? I will take any of my 3 CRX's against this any day.

I live north of Dallas and I see at least a dozen on my commute to work. People LOVE that car.
As far as it being slow, your CRXs was slow too when it first came out. Granted they do look a lot better (CRXs)....
Give it time, it will speed up.

Hey all.. it is a Hybrid vehicle. If you want the HP, go with the civic Si.
The CRZ right now is for the hybrid minded yet sport enthused driver... not a street racer or a series tuner. Maybe if they come out with a non Hybrid it will offer more, but it is what it is right now.
I have driven the Mugen and a 6sp manual... put it in sport and it is a lot of fun. Normal or econ and get near 40 mpg... that makes sense to me too!

I like the looks of the car but question the "visceral" factor...if it was half as fast as it looks it might be something. Sexy....but propably not as fun as a boosted CRX ...nonetheless, somebody will shell out the big bucks for it...

And another thing, who the hell cares if we don't get this car. The mugen si was like $8k+ over the normal si and other then exhaust, had no engine performance upgrades. Do you have any idea how much honda/mugen would charge for a factory installed supercharger?!?!? Say hello to a sub $40k crz that still doesn't do anyone thing great, and even if it did there's ALOT of better options in the $30k range

Re: Honda CR-Z Mugen RR
imagine getting beat down by the new ford fiesta. this is rediculous.
the powertrain is for economy, yes. but this was not an economy car originally. its a 2 seater. im waiting for kswap mounts for this thing. im really hoping to be involved with the engineering.

Re: Honda CR-Z Mugen RR
It's kind of sad, really.. the only way I get excited about the CR-Z is to see what the aftermarket has to offer. And the aftermarket concepts (like this one) are a little to busy for my taste.
Like many CRX owners, I don't want to criticize this car, I want a reason to buy it! We're still waiting, Honda.

yea the spoiler is bad(if it was flush and not raised 6in it would prolly look better or even like a CTR style duckbill over the rear window would look slick) but the rear bumper looks like it was taken from a fast n furious extras car.

honestly how about we all wait because you guys know the crx didn't come out as a si at first so maybe Honda will see that they only sold like one or two in each state so they well think hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe we should release a non hybrid model only in the future give it a year or two and something will happen like hasport will get the idea soon or latter anyways
