Exterior Specifications - Headlights (Europe)

Exterior Specifications - Headlights JDM (Japan)

^^^ Some ludes in Europe (mostly Germany) had motorized height adjusting headlights (2-piece chrome or black housing).
This is the switch to control these headlights. It helps adjust the beam.
The switch fits in the center console, replacing one of the blanks.

^^^ Honda also offered this nifty little option. Headlight washers.

Exterior Specifications - Lighting


^^^ Amber Side Markers. STANLEY. All European Preludes came stock with these. *you will notice side markers on all Preludes in this thread.


^^^ Clear reflectors. STANLEY. 1994-96 models.
Since European Prelude had side markers there was no need to have the outer bumper lights utilize the blinking function. Instead, there were these outside clear reflectors. They were often combined with either all amber or amber/clear bumper lights.

^^^ *92-93 models had amber reflectors.

^^^Now here are the JDM clear cornering lights. These are a completely different cup of tea. I will get into these later. These do have a bulb and a socket, they illuminate the area to where you are turning.


^^^ USDM. In USA Preludes have rear bumper reflectors. In Europe that is not the case.

Exterior Specifications - Rear Fog Lights



^^^ 1992-1996 Honda Prelude EDM Rear Fog Light.

*Rear Fog lights are a requirement in Europe. The purpose of the rear fog
is to allow the visibility of your car to OTHER drivers in extreme conditions.



^^^ In UK the rear fog is on the right side of the rear bumper.


^^^In other countries like Germany for example, the rear fog is on the left side. Germany, Austria, Italy, France and many other countries have the steering wheel on the left side. Just like USA!!!
Only UK and some other Euro countries like Ireland and Scotland have the wheel on the right side like Japan.:tu:


Just to balance out the look, dual rear fogs.

Don't worry. In Europe they had an alternate version dimmer that fits in
the center console. Check out the pic below.

My friends Prelude. He is from Germany.













NO PASSENGER AIRBAG. Some models in Europe had no airbag.



EDM cargo lights. Bottom corner of the door panels. Light up when the door is open. These allow people too see
the cargo area and the ground area at night. Clear ones (see pic.) are more common, the red ones are really rare.
These are Stanley, and a very rare feature in a 4th gen Prelude. Luxury option.

Here is one of the absolute hardest options to come by. AUDM Hood Protector.
This is a Genuine Honda Factory part from Australia. Possibly available Europe as well.









In Europe they like to smoke their tail lights, fogs and other lenses.


Prelude in France with a smoked rear fog light and tail lights.




Also smoked bumper turn signals and side markers.

This is a nice possibility. A 5th gen JDM FRONT fog switch, will easily fit and can be wired for a 4th gen prelude.

This will fit into a 4th gen triple switch panel, even tho this was meant to be for a 5th gen. I know this dude in UK who has
a edm rear fog switch and this jdm front fog switch together with the cruise rocker switch. All located in the triple bezel.

here are some pictures of 92-96 Honda Prelude UKDM lip kit. Front lip, side skirts and rear lip are all Genuine Honda OEM parts. This is one of the most rare items for the 4th gen Lude. Be careful, replicas and counterfeits exist.

Some Preludes in Europe and Japan had Chrome interior door handles. In USA, all 4th gens had Black door handles.

Some 4th gen Preludes in Europe and Japan
did not have a sunroof.
The switch plate has a blank filler or a rear fog light switch instead of the sunroof switch.










OEM factory tool kit. Fits inside the spare tire in the tunk. Pic is from a UK spec lude.




USDM facory option in-dash cellular telephone. The receiver is in console and the handset is inside of the armrest. Honda oem.

A lot of the phones are in ways superior to the new ones- you could get reception where new phones fail. So good, that the phone companies don't let them connect to the network

right on brotha! I know of two people who were able to get the phone physically turn on and work, the problem is they couldn't find any providers in their area.

Night time running Lights. The sensor (pictured) is installed on top of the dash and it turns your headlights on automatically when night is approaching.

EDM mirror-less drivers side sun visor.
Some European Preludes only had the mirror on the passenger side. On top of that Germany, Italy and France had writing on them in their own respective languages. Japanese market also had many sun visor variations.

Rear Fog Light Components

inner Housing, bulb and connector (same as usdm front fogs connector).



lens, seal and screws that hold the whole assembly together.


lens and every other component is stamped Stanley. This makes it OEM Honda. Stanley definition number is: 049-8344 on the lens and 041-7293 on the inner housing.



Outer Housing



Bracket. This goes on the inside of the bumper and holds the whole assembly together.

***rear fog used is a UKDM right side of the bumper.
Germany, France, Italy and other countries have the
rear fog side on the left side of the bumper. The rear fog
is always on the drivers side of the bumper.

JDM bumper pole - used to judge the distance while parking between two cars. In Japan there are too many cars and not enough space. That's where bumper poles, half antennas, power folding mirrors etc, come into play.

Here is something interesting. These are from Euro Accord, but are the same size as the USDM 92-93 tweeter fog switch.



In Europe and Japan, leather interior was also available on some automatic and lower end models like the 2.0 liter in UK.
