Re: wheel stud replacement HELP
Is it the front or rear wheel?
If you're careful you can replace a front wheel stud by grinding off the old one and hammering in the new. You really need to get a lug/stud puller tool or use some wrenches and an old lug nut to pull the stud as straight as you can.
And you'll need to take off the rotor.

Re: wheel stud replacement HELP
I didn't even shave the stud when I did mine, I just ground the old one off, and hammered the new one in with a ball peen carefully. Used a lug puller to straighten it out and make it flush.
Not that hard.

If you want to grind 1/2 the stud away then yes, you can get away without pulling the bearing. But I used the word "correct," and Sean is saying the same.
Leave it to the OP to decide whats wrong and whats right. I've worked for a tire/wheel/align/brake company for 15 years.....but according to you, myself, and Sean, "don't know what we're talking about."
Ahhh Honda Tech.

Re: wheel stud replacement HELP
Thanks for the stud grinding tip to keep from having to remove the hub! I used a cutoff tool to slice off a piece of the stud-head and the broken stud came right out. Did the same to the new stud and was surprised that it went in after hammering flat a small piece of aluminum. Getting the new stud fully seated was another story
this flat piece of aluminum.... i think you guys are talking about the brake dust shield? take that damn thing off, then the studs will slide completely out the back. or just cut a slot in the shield just wide enough for the stud to fit through out the back.

Do you enjoy getting slapped around, or are you just too stupid to realize that's what's happening to you?

And those are just the threads listed as related threads. Do you want me to go through the hundreds of other threads that all say the exact same thing? Or would you like to talk about how, when you buy the hub from the dealership, the studs are already installed in it? Literally everyone knows this as fact. Everyone except you.
