Can I ask another question? Is a transmission cooler worth it? I was suggested it can extend the life of our trannys and with mine only being 21k miles im thinking about getting one. The ones i see sold here get mounted under the car just outside the tranny it looks.

loosk like this

If you lived in an extremely warm climate, or if the car was going to be tracked... I'd say it would be a benefit. If that isn't the case, then I wouldn't waste the money.

The hottest it gets here is 30C, which is like i dont know 80 maybe F? And thats not often, only a couple weeks out of the year. The rest its mild and mostly cold for 7 months of the year.

I do, do the neutral + ebrake method as I was recommended during long lights when its super hot out. Was told it cools the tranny.

Is there a way to monitor the tranny fluid temp? I know some cars actually has a gauge for it on the dash.

I have a 2002 Civic automatic transmission question, new to the site and hope you don't mind me asking for help since on the same topic.

I'll try and give enough detail:
When in Drive/Reverse, but not in motion; a clacking/gear-like grind is heard on right side. While in drive or reverse with someone holding the emergancy break on, I can push the motor forward/backward (placing light pressure), and the noise will stop in one spot, start in another.
I went as far as jacking up the right side, with the left tire on the shop floor, no noise if there is no pressure on the right wheel. Did the same on the left side, jacked it up with the right tire on the floor - in drive/reverse, the clicking/grind is present.

I thougt the shaft may not have been seated well. I removed/re-installed right drive shaft and still has the noise.

I'm trying to find out if it's in the tramission and do I need to rebuild it again.

Thank you much.

transmission needs changing.... if it doesnt reverse well the 4th gear possible bad too because reverse and 4th related. my bro had that issue with his honda stream and had to change the transmission.

I think honda transmissions are good designs they are more aggressive than toyota to me even better ratios. Just the reliability a problem

It shifts very good in drive and reverse and has no issues shifting while driving. What is throwing me is it's only coming from the right side (when I took pressure off the right wheel, it stops).

What exactly is the difference?

Will rebuilding an 01-03 not make the tranny as reliable as a 04-05?

My cousin bought a 2002 EX Automatic and thinks the previous owner put a DX auto transmission in it. She said it has a hard time shifting. Someone said i need to change out the EX TCM to a DX TCM which i havent had any luck finding one. Can anyone help me figure this out. Trying to help he save some money but should i be looking for a EX transmission or can i get this solved in a easier way? thanks
