Icon2 Del sol water leaks

I recently bought a 1994 del sol s, and after a hard rain I noticed I had water leaks in the back of the driver's seat (between the seat and rear window) in the passenger's side ( under the glove box) and in the trunk, so im wondering what could be the problem? Do I have to replace all the rubber seals? Any suggestios would help.

Thanks.

they have always had issue with the trunk leaking. Just like civics of the same generation. Check the drainage lines and make sure they are clear. make sure your trunk is lined up right and the seal is is good condition. You can try using a hose to spot where exactly the leak is coming from. Try using vaseline on the seals to keep them conditioned so they dont dry rot. it will also come in handy in the colder months to stop the doors from freezing up on you. The one for the glovebox I had when I had my 92 SI hatch. It was the windshield seal. Is your del-sol a targa top? if so then that could explain the leak behind your seat.

ALL Del Sols are targa tops .... as for the leak the first years of the Del sol were notorious this happening, more then likely its the seals around the roof.

Yeah the roof leak all the time in the del sol's. Your best bet is to get the new seals and like noy said keep the seals moisterized. They dry out bad so DO NOT use any of the tire shine. It pulls the moister out to make it shine.

no joke. the side targa seals are about 120 from majestic and the other seals for it are 400ish. ***** not cheap. seriously tho try the silicone grease before you go spend all that money. i had the side seals leaking on mine and applied it. leaks went away. best 23 bucks iv spent in a while lol

the only two i know to leak leak are the top two.

ones 130.
the rear is 250.
apparently i meant 400.
where are you buying it for 6? unless your including the ones on the actual targa top.

considering 15+ years of use for 600 bucks isn't bad.

I had a similar issue where where it would get on the floorboard on the drivers side. The drain line that came from the sunroof was disconnected and was not draining out the fender.

the ttop sides and front+rear. all of that was around 600 from majestic iirc

edit: i just check majestic...the ttop side moldings are $65-$68 a piece. the front is $130 and rear is $257.. then calculate for shipping. so roughly $550 for all moldings

I have a 93 del sol that leaked and I used 3M silicon paste on the roof seals and it worked great. I got it at a NAPA auto store $30 for a 8 ounce jar. The Honda parts guy said it is the same as the Honda stuff.

I have 2 Del Sols. Both leaked from the air intake. Fixed that problem. Later, leaks came from under the rear glove compartment areas into the floorboard. Had to pull carpet. Still trying to find source of leaks. Does the rear window have drain lines that could be stopped up? Any other suggestions?

Might be a little late to this, but I have had my 94 Del Sol Si (w/D15B Vtec) for almost 9 years. I changed the rubber seals around the doors and roof, I replaced them with the seals from a 97 Del Sol. The roof still leaks just enough to be annoying. My carpet has always been super wet almost all of the time. Last weekend I just found where most of the water has been coming from. There is an enormous opening under the plastic below the wipers for the air blower to pull air from. When it rains more than just a little, tons of water dumps into the blower and drains right into the floor. Pools of water are always under the seats. I installed some aluminum to keep the water away from the blower opening. Carpet is still soaked. I have three rolls of Dynamat waiting to go into the car but I don't want to put it on the floors until I know the flooding has been stopped for good. Just found out about someone plasti dipping the joints around the windows and roof and I may try that also. I love my car and will never get rid of it but this leak is driving me insane. If anyone else has any more good ideas about how to stop it, please pass them along.

I had the same problem in my 93. I just recently fixed it. Mine was only leaking at the corners of both windows. I got a new front seal and used window weld. It was fairly easy.

I know this is a old post but this was the most recent one I found about the issue. I got a 93 Del Sol and it is leaking from the roof and behind the glove box.....I ripped all the carpet out and am trying to see where it is coming from. I had a few dry days and today is the first day it rained since I removed the carpet.
Anyhow, I checked the drain lines in the seals and they are fine. I even put new ones in the front and back on but I can't get rid if the water.
Any suggestions?
I even used silicon spray on the new seal..... I'm lost

Yup, it's an old thread. Lots of those popping up lately.
There is a TSB (Service Bulletin) about those leaks.
Bulletin No. 93004

I'm pretty sure it is posted somewhere in the forums already, but here's a link to a site with it:

http://workshop-manuals.com/honda/de...r_leak_repair/

I also remember seeing a couple YouTube videos of some... alternative methods.
