How much does your race EG hatch weigh?

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
I'm currently sitting at 2112, D-series 5th gen, full tank of gas and a weld-in cage.
I've removed all the emissions hardware, all the rear seat brackets (drilling a hole in the gas tank at the same time..DOH!)
No rear wiper/motor. I run Hasport mounts so I removed the 2 lower torque mounts that are probably worth about 10-12lbs in total.
I am still running the stock steel hood, but with lighter eBay headlights and replica Spoon mirrors. All the sound deadening is out.
I do run the heavier 5lug brakes all around but with all the heatshields trimmed/removed. My wheels are Buddy Club QFs which are about 11lbs in a 15x7 and also Spoon SW388 which are about 10lbs.
Car is on a half sized Fluidyne. Gained some weight with the addition of an oil cooler and replacing my carbon kevlar Recaro with an FRP Bride.
I am about 160lbs - I could stand to lose a few myself. I've discovered that the door panels are worth about 3lbs each (I still have both of them) and the floor mats are also about 3lbs each.
So that's 10-12lbs for me to hit 2100 even that I could do for "free" and without much hassle. I've yet to go through the wiring harness and removing the heater core is NOT an option as it rains quite a bit where I am.
The front and rear rebars are still on the car and I'm nervous about removing them simply because the cars I've seen shunt against walls and/or other cars take the hits better with them than without.... lightness can be a tricky balance of durability at times.
I would be thrilled if I could get the car down to 1980 with a full tank of gas and without having to spend buckets of cash on titanium and carbon.

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
Took her to the track for fun, but mostly to see what she weighed (this was in December)
94' Civic DX Hatch
Engine: Stock 100hp 280,XXX Mile D15B7, open (stock)header, no exhaust/cat/muffler, powerglide clutch
Suspension: Stock
Wheels: Stock 13" Wheels idk what tires lol
Interior: Only has: Stock steering wheel/no airbag, internally gutted dash, no a/c or heat, 1 carbon kevlar F1Spec Seat w/ buddyclub rails.
Exterior: Spoon replica plastic mirrors, stock glass
The results...
Without driver:
With me:
I'll admit I was frickin stoked on seeing '2020' then got out and saw '1860' haha Curious to see what it'll weigh once it's rase kar mode, just thought I'd share what it weighed before.
And incase you're curious, it ran a 16.1 @ 86 MPH that day

92 civic hatch - h2 trim
2100 with a half tank and 2270 with driver
B16, Gutted interior, dashbord skin, no driver or passenger windows, 16lb battery, all metal body panels and a six point cage that probably weighs 80-100 lbs
We could lose more weight by deleting the F and R sway bars (25lbs), replacing the hood and rear hatch with CF (20-25 lbs) replacing the remaining glass with lexan (20+ lbs?), JDM plastic headlamps (5-10lbs), billet rear LCAs, lighter wheels (currently on 15x7 team dynamics that are 15 lbs). That's a 100 lbs right there.

Weight my 95 cx hatch last weekend.
2270 with driver.
Full interior, minus sound deadning. NRG quick release and wheel, cobra race seat with random sliders. Full glass, stock motor and exhaust, stock body, welded on quaters with at least 5LBS of bondo on car from me. Track wheels on, 13X7.5 lenzos with 215/50/13 V710s. half tank of fuel. Car without me 2075. I ll have to lose weight when the back half get in. lol.

Rear gutted is just that.
no sound proofing, no headliner, no carpet, no panels, no spare, no tools, minimal wiring for lights.
Cage bars crossing all over the place.
Thats gutted.
Check for the roll cages thread there are plenty of EG pics in there.

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
update: i come across the NASA-NE scales post race and fuel starving at 2252. so that's 2002lbs without me in it. and there is still plenty to do to lighten it up outside of the realm of the H2 rule set.

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
If you have the money you could go with a chromoly roll cage and save about 36% in weight off the cage.
The cost might not be worth it for some, but it is an option.
I hear people say its not worth the cost but then they go and buy very expensive carbon and lexan pieces.
My hatch weighed in at around 2100 lbs with a b motor and half a tank. The one spot I cut some lbs was in the braking system, the wilwood 11 inch setup was significantly lighter than my ITR brakes. I would guess some where around 10lbs at least total.

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
94 eg hatch = 2182lbs
completely gutted - all that remains is dash, both front seats, h22, prelude front brakes. with half a tank of gas.
have since bought a carbon bonnet, and searching for carbon trunk and in talks for some lexan windows. all 5 minus windscreen.

Re: How much does your race EG hatch weigh?
Lol full k20 swapped stl race car. 12 gallon fuel cell, advanced design suspension(custom shortened shocks) and dynoed. STL plus 2.0 litters must be. 2700 pounds. It's balanced very well with weights plus cross weighed. My front and rear percentages are 59.8 to 40.2. It's very competitive.
