Check your ball joints along with the axles. Ball joints should have no more than a nickle's thickness worth of play in them. The proper way to check them is to lift the car slightly off the ground, put a pry bar between the ground and the tire, and pull up on the tire. If it is your ball joints, fix them before you drive the car again, if a ball joint goes out, you will crash. How do I know? Seen it happen in person.

They shouldn't have any play in them. Period.

Zero play is considered optimum, but the thickness of a nickle is considered acceptable. If that's not the case then ASE needs to edit their test answers.

Check your ball joints. I have a 92 civic hatch and mine was doing the same exact thing but it was when I turned the wheel to the right. I changed the ball joint and it fixed the poping problem its worth a shot.

Some makes (Ford comes to mind) allow for a small amount of play. But a Honda balljoint should have none.
