Anti Freeze smell....

Anti Freeze smell....
Hi Guys and Girls,
I have a weird thing that's happening with my 92 accord ex. I never notice any spills or leakage, or steaming... but about every month or so I have to add coolant to the radiator... If the radiator is low, if I stop at a stop light for a while the temp gauge will rise on me, but it will go back down if I kick it into Neutral and push about 1.5K rpm. Then the temp goes down pretty quick...shouldn't I see some kind of leak?
Thanks,
Gandalf

Re: Anti Freeze smell....
the reason you need to rev the engine is because the water pump will circulate the coolant thats in there.
As for your problem, have you checked your oil lately? Check to see if its higher than normal. How about your radiator.. any oil residue? If yes, you have a blown head gasket. If no, then i'd guess you have a leak somewhere thats dripping slow while you're driving. Also, check on the passenger side floor for wet spots. If its wet, you have a bad heater core.

Sorry bro but it's sounding like a leaking head gasket. Check your plugs. If they look like the color of your coolant and are crystalized(hard deposits), the head gasket is leaking coolant into the combustion chamber.

Rent a pressure tester, pump the coolant system to the proper setting and see if it holds. If not, find the leak. There are cheap UV sye systems you can buy (or maybe rent?) that might help find the source. Yes it could be a head gasket BUT there are a 100 other places it could be leaking.
