Icon2 s2s3 tuner vs pro1 vs 98 type r cams

Im looking for feed back on you guys that have used both sskunk2 tuner 3 cams and pro1's. The reason for my interest is I have some one that has a set of s2 tuner 3 cams that wants to trade me my 98 type r cams and 40 on my end. Here is what my build consist of.

b18c5 block
GE Sleeves
13.0-1cr Cp pistons
ls crank
eagle rods
b16 head, P&P
Springs & retainers (they will be changed when I install cams anyways)
98 type r cams
2 stage nitrous (50 single fogger 150 direct port)

2 fuel systems
OEM Fuel system runs motor (93)
Secondary fuel system runs the nitrous set up. (c16)

Yes it is tuned.
My question is how much better are the sk pro 1's vs tuner 3 and 98 type r?

Just a heads up....don't just look at the NUMBER of votes....look at WHO the votes come from.

Sounds like that would be one FUN-*** car!

I do kinda wonder why you chose to run 13:1 on 93 octane, though. Are you just doing that to drive it? or are you wanting something that will PERFORM with 93?

It is a daily driver and I cant afford race gas 24/7 thats why i just spray race gas. Im thinking of getting the stage 3 since I can get them for so cheap.

you have more than enough compression to run the pro 1...you may even look into the pro2

My vote goes to the Pro1 cams. Who is doing to tuning?

of course the fact is cam choice isnt decided by compression it is decided by flow.

pick one of the two best cams out right now the pro1 or pro2, whichever will give you proper clearance.

Alpha will be tuning the car.
Yeah Im sure Id love the pro2 for sure but, Im leaning towards the tuner 3 for now since it will be 40 and my old type r cams.

You might have to pull a lot of timing to run the S2S3 cams, especially with such high compression.

Why? I ran those cams on my 13.5:1 compression without any problems. I voted these cams because they WILL make more torque and hp than the Pro1's hands down. If you only want more power from 3000-5500 rpms then by all means use the Pro1's .

I ran Pro 1's in my 11:5 ls/vtec build and they ran great! With your setup, Pro1's would be nice...BUT I might go with Pro 2's.

I've never heard this before. Do you have a graph?

The Pro1's are smaller than the S2S3 cams on the vtec lobes so you would only get better power out of that setup above below vtec.

EDIT: I had it backwards.

EDIT(again): The S2S3 cams have more total duration, but the Pro1 has a faster ramp speed. So the valves open and close faster with the Pro1 cams. Shouldn't this mean that they're effectively open longer?

I'm not saying either set is bad. I'm just trying to learn more about what makes each cam good.

from what ive seen on here i would pick the st3's hands down, now pro2's or pro3's if you got a 2.0 liter is a different story. the tuner cams are old but still put out dam good results

Hp and TQ in the upper band of the rpm with the Pro1's is weak. They have amazing midrange but their topend power, according to most of the graphs I have see, is just damn weak.

From the choices you have given.

Drag car Tuner STAGE 3
Street Car Pro 1

The mid-range improvements from the pro series cams are drastic on most engines

pro2/3 or s3

S3 will make more top end, but I'm curious to see what pro3 could do

I allready made a test to compare Pro1 VS pro2 last year, and I have good reason to think that I will compare pro2 VS pro3 in a build engine in a few weeks
