Icon6 What's the WIDEST Tire I can fit on 5th Gen?

Hello,

I've been searching, but can't seem to find the info i'm looking for. Widest tire that will fit.

5th Gen Accord: 1994 Accord LX Coupe.

Can I fit a 225/50/16? Without running into clearance issues? If that's too big, 215/40/16?

Thanks.

Not too worried about the speedometer being out, it's far out already from the swap. Can i fit this tire? Planning on using a 16"x7" with a 40mm offset.

Complications? Hoping to achieve without modification. Not lowered at this point. Planning on using Tein SS coilovers in the future.

my tires rub and i'm on 215/50/17 but i'm also 2.5" lower. you may be able to fit those tires though because they are 16s...not sure, however, you will have issues when you lower

make sure the wheels will fit on the lug studs. that wheel looks like it has 8 holes for lugs. which i suppose would fit if you have 4 lugs right now, but it would be really dumb
ps am i using the word "lug" correctly?

special one for a reason? lol

It has 8 holes, because it has two bolt patterns. 4x114.3 & 4x100

You only use 4 bolts at a time.

It can interchange between my cars, which can make use of the wheel using the applicable pattern.

Depends on the amount of work you want to do, on another forum there is a guy with 9.5 inch wide rims, or 10...

I run a 195,50,15 on a 15" xxr +15mm offset rim. Moving up to 16's in the rear or maybe full around, and when I do, same tire size, and you won't have rubbing issues from what I have heard.

40 mm offset and your wheels are in the fenders..depends the look you are going for too, any stretch?

I have 225/40/18s on my accord with 42offset and I don't rub whatsoever, slammed on coilovers too.

^Please, May I ask to see a PICTURE sir. I'm interested in learning more info on the suspension setup your running. Specifically what coil overs? I would like to run 18s on my 94 someday..

Same here, but not slammed, stock height. Well other than the inch or two the car was raised by the wheels. No rub-age

IMO, just get the proper size tire for the car: 205/50/16

Running 225's isnt going to net you much performance gain on a daily. its not worth the fitment issues and rubbing that probably come along with the bigger tire

and definitely don't lsiten to this guy. 195/50/15 is 1.5" (over 6%) smaller than the factory tire. that accord probably looks ridiculous with tiny civic sized tires on it. sounds like he is one of those wannabe vw, low offset, stretched tire kinda guys

There you go, this was back when it was raised up a bit to clear speed bumps at school but then I said **** it I can walk and dropped it down back to where the fender's right on top of the tire lol. I don't have a pic of it dropped like recently tho but I can get one if you wished

I had been running 225/45/17 on 17x7 rims with a +42 offest. Right now I have 215/45/17 on 17x8 rims with +45 front and +35 rear. The issue for me is the rim (and tire) to trailing arm clearance on the 8 inch rims if using +45 on the rear. +40 seems about right for front and rear but I can't get it in a rim I like.
