Default CA - Driving without bumper and hood.

Is this legal? I would have the fenders on, but no bumper cover or hood.
Could I get pulled over? It would only be a 10 mile drive.

In MA I know it's not for safety to pedestrian reasons. Im sure that it's illegal in communist Cali as well.

I've driven without a bumper and headlights before, and I was following close behind my brother so I wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb. This time it would no hood as well.

Okay. If anything it'll probably just be a fix it ticket, which is only like $25 if it gets signed off. Thanks!

I don't see why it would be a problem, as those pieces don't really affect the safety of the car. But I've heard how strict CA is, so I have no idea.

Hitting a pedestrian with a bumper amd hood vs hitting one without are 2 very different things.

No bumper is illegal and you could get pulled over:

Dont know about the hood...

^ That's a bumper, not a bumper cover. The car will have a bumper on it. Although, it won't have any turn signals up front.

If you don't have turn signals you are screwed. It's the basic items you must have.

Uh oh. Well I'll be following close behind my brother in a truck so hopefully that will help. I've driven the same distance without headlights and turn signals before and it was fine. I just wasn't sure about the hood and bumper.
Thanks for all the input!

Lol. I'm taking my car to a body shop, and I don't want to pay $45 for a trailer to tow it, so I figured I'd just drive it.

are you talking about a bumper cover or a bumper? Most states say nothing about a cover (the plastic) but im pretty sure its a state wide law to have a bumper(the metal beam) on the car.

Yeah, it will have the metal beam. Sorry for not clarifying. The main problem is the headlights and turn signals missing.

Do it at your own risk.

You can also get pulled over for following car too close. lol

$80 is better than getting pulled over by a cop and possible ticket. But you might get lucky.

Why don't you just zip tie turn signal to bumper support beam and take it out at the body shop?

Not a bad idea. And it will be daytime so headlights aren't a problem.

How far is the body shop? $45 is better than risk getting pulled over and getting multiple tickets.

It does not matter day or night, no headlights are no headlights.

zip tie headlights too, don't need to be working. Unless you get pulled over by d-bag cop.

If you are really cheap a$$.

Just put tow strap on your brothers truck and your car, so it look like getting towed. And use local reads. lol
