All of your credibility was thrown out of the window when I read that. Then reading the statement that you made a 400 tread rating tire ONLY last a year with continual rotations, really sealed the deal for me. I don't know what fantasy land you live in, where the laws of physics don't really apply... but if your setup works for your interests, that's great. However, when your opinion is thrown into the mix, things get a bit askew. You're contradicting fact with opinion, and that never works. Then, challenging people to Autocross events just makes you look a bit childish.
I suggest you find a better venue to vent rage, then reviving dead threads to voice an opinion.

HAHA I laugh in the faces of haters at that remark.
SPECS:
15x8 Diamond Racing Wheels,
195/50 R15 (soon to be 195/45 R15)
+12 offset, with 5mm spacers in the front (+7mm front, +12mm rear.)
4 degrees of camber in the rear, 3.75 degrees of camber in the frontions

With regular tire rotations, I made it a year now on the same set of Kuhmo Ecsta tires.
65 bucks a piece.
In a couple months i'll have my new tires.
OH! And to the guy who said it hurts the performance of the car,
Autocross me We'll see who car puts down the fastest lap.
Listen to someone who knows something about stretching tires,
To answer your question yes, they sidewall height means a LOT, just as the width does. If your tire is too skinny, it will stretch the sidewall to much, and tear like many of the sidewalls you see.
to correct that you would get one with a taller profile, and it wouldn't put NEARLY as much stress on the sidewall.
I.E. The picture I posted is of my car, When I go to a 45, it will add slightly more stretch to the tire, but not make it unreliable, or adding to much stress on the sidewall. Car weight helps a lot too, if your car is really light you can run a smaller profile without the worry of blowing the sidewall. In a heavier car it would put a lot more weight onto the sidewall causing more stress.
