Default Bulge below knee cap

On my right knee, below my knee cap there is a hard knot/bulge/maybe bone thing that is sticking out. Its been there for as long as I can remember and im 26 now. It kinda hurts when I run. I plan on seeing the doc tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else has this condition? I remember asking a doc a few years ago who said it was normal but it definetely does not look normal.

I had that issue when I was a teenager...long gone by now.

I wonder why some adults have it?

That looks and sounds exactly like it. Except its been 10 years now and mine never went away either. I had to do a full physical exam prior to entering the military I wonder why they never noticed this seems like something major. Well I guess I should be glad im not alone.

It's not something they would ever notice unless you complained of knee pain.

I have one on my left side, its normal. Its your patellar tendon that is likely the source of pain and you can get straps that apply some pressure to the tendon that help.

Mine used to cause discomfort after heavy squats but ever since I started squatting deep, my knees have felt 100X better than they ever did with my old 'just to parallel' squats.

haha, that link is calling it the wrong thing. it's not -slaughter, it's -schlatter.

OP, if it is bothering you, definitely go to an orthopedic doctor and get it diagnosed. at that point, you can get a script to go to rehab and choose a good athletic rehab place with solid references, not some run-of-the-mill bullshit that works with non-athletes.

if you don't have insurance, there are a ton of stretches and rehab protocols available on the net. it's a pretty common issue that can be resolved. you just have to keep up on it and follow the protocol to a tee.

when i was in rehab for my ACL reconstruction there was a dude there getting treatment for OSS.

Im in the military so I got healthcare for better or worst. I have an appointment Monday so we'll see. I have to run a physical fitness test next week though so I dont want them to feel like im copping out though. At my last command I did the cardio part on the bike or elliptical but this one wont let me do that unless I have a medical waiver.
