I guess the real question is what do you mean by cheap? No good paint job is going to be cheap. A real paint job is a lot of work.

Here is the best free advice I can give from my professional opinion to try and get the most for your money.
1) Try and stick with matching your existing paint color, this way you can avoid jams and re-spaying the engine bay.
2) When you do find a reputable paint shop speak with them on what brand materials and $ options they can provide. For example PPG makes a few different paint grades and that could save a few $ in your budget.
3) Try and disassemble as much of the car (be prepared to reassemble) prior to brining in the car. This is a challenge sometimes if you do not trailer the car.
4) Be very clear in your expectations when shopping and speaking with the shop that will work on your car.
As an example we recently quoted a 08 Honda civic coupe for a full respray, the car required no body work aside from some door dings. Its a full color change from black to yellow. The cars engine compartment will remain black but all door jams and underside of the hood will be re-sprayed. The cost using a factory Honda yellow code in PPG DDBC base clear products was $4250.00, with a color change a somewhat significant amount of disassembly is required. Had it been resprayed in black I would have quoted closer to 3K, perhaps even a bit less.
My shop rate is very competitive at 75.00 per hour so this is also something you have to factor in your search. Some shops are as high as 125.00 but their quality of work is not on par with shops that charge 95.00.
Good Luck.

People on here get their panties in a twist when those two words come up.The advice given by SRC with 9 posts leads the way on how people should help on here. What is the point of telling someone the same thing more than once or twice?I want to see what everyone who posted in this thread has as an answer to that last question?I think the poster is looking to get the most bang for his buck which I can understand in todays market.
