h2b swap no expensive parts other than qsd
I am currently in the middle of doing an h2b swap into an EG. No balance shaft eliminator, and stock h alt. mount. Did some modifying to the frame with a welder and a cut off wheel. Got lots of pics. Also have measurements. Can post if anyone is interested on what you have to do to get it to clear. and save a butt load. lol.

so that is where I am at, you cannot tell in the pic, but the metal we used is the same thickness as the frame that was cut out. Ya it may not be as strong if i were to hit someone... yadaa yadaa yadd... whatever! my friend did his eg, and didn't quite make the cut out big enough, so we tried to remedy that. If our measurements are correct, we can now run the balance shafts, timing cover, and stock h22 alt. mount with a d or b series alt. We will know soon enough. i still have to prep the bay for paint.
more pics will come when more work is done.

Here is the test fit, F23a block (empty). Also an empty b series tranny case, old cracked one.
then i finished prepping the bay for paint. im happy with the clearance and will show pics of the install along with the fit and finish.

I am curious if anyone here thinks the frame mods are going to make the car "unsafe". I think if anything i have created a crumple zone on the frame rail now.... god forbid i find out.

thats a great job!! but theres no need for all that work in a eg. It all clears and for the alternator all u had to do is get a skinner pulley thats what i did. The back balancer shaft doesnt even get close but im taking mine out for the weight and better oil pressure. But all and all good welding job but not needed.

the reason im doing this is because when my friends h22 went in it hit big time, so the frame got cut, and a smaller b series alt, with a d bracket.... yada yada yada.... i dont see how it would all clear using a 100% stock H. timing cover and all. id love to see the pics of ur install

it really looks like you took ALOT out of your frame rail. The factory framerail doesn't have any wedge shaped 90 degree corners on it, thats were your welds will be under pressure as they are right on the corner. The factory framerail spreads the load a bit better due to not having a straight edged bend in the rail, but rather a slight curve.
In for more progress

heres mine that im putting on a built head with a balance shaft removal kit right now but you can clearly see with the EVO kit that everything clears all you gotta do it get a skinnier alternator pulley.

lokks good, but the evo kit is totally different than the qsd kit... they give u special mounts too. my understanding is that it lowers the whole thing like 1.5 inches. so you can close your hood.

correct, evo kit moves the motor over to the passenger side to gain framerail clearance and also slightly lower to gain hood clearance.
gixxerboy - is that a h series alternator with a d series pulley? also, have you got any completed pics or any other pics for that matter? are you running timing covers? this thread could have some good info for actual clearance differences between the qsd and evo kit.

here is some more... another long day. lol. but i love it.
I sprayed my engine bay with a 1.0 tip mini jet gun... GRRR. a ex-friend of mine stole my whole spray gun setup last week due to business deal going bad. long story.... never try to hook friends up with a deal on a swap... they will just come back and try to screw u, and mistake my genorosity for weakness....
nevertheless, i was given a free gun so i cannot complain.

I took it for a test run open header last night, it pulls hard... kinda. with just a blip of the throttle it spun both tires... I LOVE LSD!!!!
