why will my car not start now?

i have a new door lock and ignition lock on order but am having trouble figuring out how to remove the old igntion lock cylinder...any help will be appreciated.

Sorry about your loss on the '00 si. Sucks big time. Get an alarm or something..? It'll at least scare them away. Also, they have these pedal brace-locks that lock your gas/clutch pedal in place rendering the car unmovable/unstartable, until the brace is removed.. As far as the ignition lock, you've got me stumped.

The ECU has an immobilizer built-in. You may need to get the ECU re-programmed, if you changed the ignition key.

i have the same problem, right down to my car getting stolen. i googled "replacing ignition lock" and found this: http://www.ehow.com/how_2100027_repl...on-switch.html which seems to be kind of involved but not beyond me. if i learn anything useful while trying it i'll let you know.

DIY Ignition Switch Cylinder Replacement:

Tools needed:
-10mm wrench or socket
-smaller phillips head screwdriver
-maybe a small flat head screwdriver

* Look for blue arrows in the pictures.

1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.

2. Wait AT LEAST 3 minutes before touching any wires. (This allows the airbag system time to dissipate the charge in the capacitor-safety first.)

3. Looking up at the steering column, take out the 3 phillips head screws. (Top of pic is toward front of car.)

4. Gently pry top cover on steering column off of the bottom cover.

5. Pull down the tilt lock lever on the left side of the steering column.

6. Pull down on the bottom steering column cover.

7. Pull these connectors out and push out of the way.

8. Take out these 2 phillips heads and remove the switch light.

9. Take out these 2 phillips heads and remove the immobilizer.

10. Now it gets tricky. Jiggle the cylinder until this pin falls out:

The pin goes here:

11. Pull the cylinder out and there you go:

12. Install in reverse order

you got me stuck on that ignitions problem but I do recommend a kill switch. It will be the best thing since they will need the control to start the car!
